Promoting the development of blue sea tourism

Despite achieving many very good results, Khanh Hoa's sea and island tourism still has limitations and shortcomings. At the local policy forum on "Developing green and sustainable tourism", many tourism experts and scientists assessed that Khanh Hoa tourism is still not commensurate with its potential and advantages; focusing on investment, building and developing types of tourism towards green and sustainable goals still has many limitations; sea tourism products are still simple.

Associate Professor - Doctor Nguyen Chu Hoi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fisheries Association assessed that for Vietnam in general, Khanh Hoa in particular, marine tourism is still the main source of revenue for the tourism industry. Besides the great opportunities and benefits brought by marine tourism, people are exploiting marine resources ineffectively, neglecting their responsibility to protect the environment and conserve marine nature. The development of "hot" tourism has affected the marine environment. Therefore, he called for the development of blue marine tourism to lay the foundation for sustainable marine tourism development. In the development of tourism in general, marine and island tourism in particular, Khanh Hoa needs to prioritize environmental protection, conservation of natural resources, marine culture as a catalyst, maintaining effective economic development in the long term, not in the short term.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism suggested that Khanh Hoa strengthen the management of destinations, manage the green, clean, beautiful and civilized tourism environment; encourage the application of green tourism development solutions, use of renewable energy, environmentally friendly energy; control the discharge, treatment of waste and emissions in tourism activities, minimize the impact on the environment, especially the marine environment. Along with that, prioritize investment projects to develop marine and island ecological resort products; health care products, sports tourism, experiences, environmental education. In particular, the province needs to focus on developing green, friendly tourism products, protecting the marine environment, adapting to climate change, exploiting indigenous culture and local communities.

According to Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, as well as the Khanh Hoa Provincial Planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, all set the following goals: By 2030, Khanh Hoa will be a centrally-run city; an international sea tourism and service center; a growth pole, the center of the South Central Coast, Central Highlands and the whole country in terms of marine economy. Accordingly, the province is focusing on developing high-end sea tourism products and green products. Recently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has advised the Provincial People's Committee to develop a set of green tourism standards for Khanh Hoa province; Advise on the Khanh Hoa Tourism Development Strategy Project for the period 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2045, including proposed tasks and solutions to develop high-quality sea and island tourism spaces and products.
