Built nearly 30 years ago, many classrooms of Lac Dao Primary School, Lac Dao Commune (Van Lam District) are now seriously degraded, affecting the teaching and learning activities of teachers and students in the school.
Lac Dao Primary School was established on the basis of merging Lac Dao A and Lac Dao B Primary Schools since December 2018. The school has 46 classrooms at 2 campuses, of which 22 classrooms were built nearly 30 years ago.
Because it was built a long time ago, the building materials at that time were mainly lime, sand and young bricks, so now the walls are damp and moldy, many ceilings are peeling off. The doors, classroom floors, and walkways are damaged and repaired in a patchwork manner... Teacher Dao Thi Bich Hien, President of the Lac Dao Primary School Union, shared: We can't remember how many times the plaster ceilings broke and fell onto the classroom floors and hallways, causing fear for students and parents. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
In the 2024-2025 school year, Lac Dao Primary School has 1,585 students, with 42 classes, each class has an average of nearly 40 students. Because the classrooms are designed according to old standards, along with prolonged deterioration, teaching and learning for teachers and students face many difficulties. Especially in the summer, the classrooms are always hot and cramped, and in the wet season, they are humid and lack light...
Not only the school building is degraded, the row of level 4 houses used as the school's administrative area was also built more than 30 years ago and is now seriously degraded, affecting the professional activities of staff and teachers.
It is known that Lac Dao Primary School is the first unit of Van Lam district to be recognized as meeting national standards in 2002. However, currently, the school's physical facilities do not meet the standards to request for review and re-recognition of the school as meeting national standards.
Comrade Vu Duc Huynh, Principal of Lac Dao Primary School, informed: From the provincial budget allocated for infrastructure renovation of 900 million VND, the school is urgently replacing the classroom door system in the old building, ensuring safety for teachers and students during the rainy season. Lac Dao Commune People's Committee has decided to allocate funds for the school to repair the leak-proof roof and railings in the hallways to ensure safety.
However, the solutions to overcome difficulties and ensure safety for teachers and students that are being implemented are only temporary. Teachers and students of Lac Dao Primary School hope to soon have a new school that ensures safety so that they can teach and learn with peace of mind, especially moving towards implementing 2 sessions/day in the 2025-2026 school year to meet the current requirements ofeducational development.
