On the morning of September 9, 2025, General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Political Bureau and Minister of Public Security, signed a decision to posthumously promote Comrade Nguyen Dong Canh (Police officer of Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province) who died while on duty.

Accordingly, Minister Luong Tam Quang signed a Decision to promote Comrade Nguyen Dong Canh (born in 1989), a mid-level police officer and officer of the Xuan Loc Commune Police Station, Dak Lak Province, from Major to Lieutenant Colonel ahead of schedule, effective September 8, 2025.

At the same time, Minister Luong Tam Quang, Chairman of the Management Board of the People's Police Solidarity Fund, also issued a Decision on providing 100 million VND from the People's Police Solidarity Fund to the family of Comrade Nguyen Dong Canh.

Earlier, on the morning of September 8th, Major Nguyen Dong Canh and four other police officers from Xuan Loc commune, Dak Lak province, pursued Nguyen Van Ty (born in 1995, residing in Hamlet 4, Xuan Loc commune) - an individual who intentionally inflicted injuries on his sister-in-law, who lived in the same house.

During the pursuit, Major Nguyen Dong Canh was stabbed multiple times by the suspect Ty with a knife, resulting in his death. At approximately 12:40 PM, the police apprehended Nguyen Van Ty. At the police station, during initial questioning, Ty confessed to his crime.
