Eighty-five years ago, Party organizations and revolutionary mass movements in Ca Mau were formed and developed strongly, opening a new chapter in the province's revolutionary history. In particular, the Hon Khoai uprising of 1940, part of the Southern Uprising, will forever remain a shining symbol of courage, patriotism, and the aspiration for national independence.
The uprising led by martyr Phan Ngoc Hien, which took place on the night of December 13, 1940, held profound significance, marking a remarkable leap forward in the political, ideological, and organizational maturity of the provincial Party committee. Although the uprising was brutally suppressed by the enemy, and hero Phan Ngoc Hien and his nine comrades bravely sacrificed their lives, the Hon Khoai uprising and the names of its heroic martyrs have gone down in history, becoming an enduring source of pride.
