To conduct a final assessment of the results of Project 8, the Standing Committee of the Ca Mau Provincial Women's Union, in coordination with the Center for Gender, Family and Community Development Research, organized a survey in several localities implementing the project.

The survey team worked in the communes of Quách Phẩm, Khánh Lâm, Tân Lộc, Cái Đôi Vàm, and Khánh Bình, focusing on gathering information about the project implementation process, the effectiveness of support models, and difficulties encountered at the local level.

The survey methods included focus group interviews, in-depth discussions with women's association officials, community communication teams, the Trusted Address model, and beneficiary residents; and the distribution of survey questionnaires to gather widespread opinions.

The survey team gathered opinions from residents in Khanh Lam commune.

Distribute feedback forms to residents benefiting from Project 8, which will serve as the basis for compiling the final evaluation.

In Khanh Lam commune, Ms. Truong Thi Thu Ha, Head of the Women's Association in Hamlet 11, said: "Previously, many women were hesitant and unwilling to share their experiences of domestic violence. Since the introduction of the 'Trusted Address' model and the communication sessions of Project 8, women have become more confident and know to seek timely support from the women's association, contributing to maintaining family happiness and ensuring local security and order."

Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Duong, Vice President of the Women's Union of Tan Loc commune, shared: "Project 8 has helped make the union's activities more vibrant, and women are more attached to the organization. Family conflicts are detected early, resolved promptly, and unfortunate consequences are minimized."

Not only the association officials, but also the people highly appreciate the effectiveness of the project. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mau, from Hamlet 5, Khanh Lam Commune, said: “I see that women in the hamlet are now more confident, participate more in women's association activities and community activities, and are able to apply more knowledge in building families and developing the economy .”

Dr. Le Van Son, expert from the Center for Gender, Family and Community Development Research, and a member of the survey team (far left), interviews and gathers factual information from people benefiting from Project 8 in Tan Loc commune.

According to the initial assessment of the survey team, localities have implemented activities quite synchronously, such as communication to change perceptions, building community communication groups, maintaining the Trusted Address model, supporting women's economic development, and caring for and protecting children. These activities contribute to eliminating gender stereotypes, reducing domestic violence, and enhancing the status of women in the family and society.

“However, the implementation process faced difficulties such as limited resources, a segment of the population still holding patriarchal views and being reluctant to participate in discussions on gender equality, hindering the process of campaigning for change in awareness. The team will compile this information to propose appropriate solutions for the next phase,” said Dr. Le Van Son, an expert from the Center for Gender, Family and Community Development Research and a member of the survey team.

Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Duong, Vice President of the Women's Union of Tan Loc commune, exchanged information with representatives of the survey team about the effectiveness of Project 8 implementation in the locality.

The positive changes observed are the result of the efforts of women's associations at all levels in accompanying and supporting women and children in ethnic minority areas.

The survey results provide an important basis for refining solutions and improving the effectiveness of Project 8 in the future, contributing to creating a safe, equal, and sustainable environment for women and children in Ca Mau province.
