A training program for a team teaching how to get rich has caused a stir on social media because it inspires and motivates by shooting rubber bands at each other's wrists - Screenshot
There are more mixed opinions than agreement about this rubber band shooting to motivate KPI achievement. Is it possible that what is happening violates the harmful code of conduct and has a negative impact on society in general and the environment in business organizations in particular?
How is a corporate code of conduct developed?
Anyone who has worked in companies or organizations has heard of the code of conduct in agencies and businesses.
Depending on the cultural identity of each unit, based on its own standard values, it sets out its own code of conduct.
In large corporations, this is taken very seriously. All employees in all positions are required to undergo training before working for the company.
Even the corporate code of conduct is periodically re-trained, accompanied by an annual written commitment from employees.
So why do businesses and organizations focus on training this set of rules?
Every organization wants to maintain and build a fair and civilized working environment based on the core values they pursue. They develop and adopt guidelines and apply standard measures of conduct in a code of conduct that applies to all employees.
At the same time, it also ensures compliance with the law, fair competition and sustainable development according to the noble values that society is aiming for.

Basic code of conduct does not accept hurting, openly encouraging insulting others
From the perspective of behavioral culture and legal compliance, the form of corporate team training by shooting rubber bands at each other's hands that is going viral on social networks can hardly achieve the basic rules of conduct in communication within the organization, with colleagues, and with superiors and subordinates.
These violations can be clearly seen in points such as:
* No act of inflicting physical pain on another person that results in an intentional risk of injury may be used in a public and acceptable training environment.
Here, a person who is considered a senior manager intentionally used a rubber band with many loops to pull with strong force on the wrist of a subordinate employee, causing her to be in pain and her wrist to become red and swollen, making the witness feel pity and pain. This is an act of violence that intentionally causes injury to another person. Regardless of the reason, this is unacceptable.
* No insults or insults should be openly directed at others and intentionally promoted in the media, which causes emotional harm to the injured person and their family.
Direct insults about sales performance and criticism of team dishonesty have long-term effects on the reputation and morale of the listener because these are used for communication and training purposes in public view by many people present.
* The culture of violence is legitimized in the form of training, causing confusion in public opinion. Intentionally applying violent images in training makes others misunderstand and believe that this is an effective method of motivation, which is very anti-educational and does not follow the anti-violence standards that the whole society is pursuing.
* More dangerous than organizing activities that also pose a risk to the lives of participants, such as a group of women in red shirts unsuccessfully catching people falling from a height, leading to a very high risk of injury and death. Here, it is a disregard for the lives of others when all of these are applied in training without going through a process of assessing the risks and safety of participants.
* There are signs of psychological manipulation of participants and serious consequences for families and society. The arguments of getting rich quickly, with little capital and big profits. Violate the transparency of information and implementation methods. Because participants are not informed of the risks that can harm them mentally and physically.
* Glorifying virtual values and existing on attracting participants, attracting a large part of the production workforce to quit their jobs, affecting the overall labor productivity of the whole society. This has become more serious in the current era of information chaos.
Not to mention the quality of the products that businesses are providing, but the way they are doing things is having a very negative impact on the general behavior of not only businesses but also society as a whole.
