With 1,000 female students from disadvantaged backgrounds receiving support from Saigon Children's Charity and its partners, this Forum provides them with the opportunity to meet, interact with and learn from successful and famous women, as well as directly cultivate skills that will empower them in their future journeys.
The morning session of the Forum took place with three panels, gathering inspirational figures in many fields. Panel 1, titled “The beauty of ‘thousands of likes’: Overcoming pressure from social networks” with the participation of runner-up Thuy Dung, model Nguyen Oanh, and brand ambassador Zoe Gabriel, shared the experiences of women working in the fashion and beauty industry about the invisible pressures that social networks create for women, as well as how to maintain confidence in one’s own value.

“The 20s are probably a time of uncertainty with many turning points, especially in the current era of extremely developed social networks. The PowHERful Female Student Forum is a great opportunity for Dung to look back on her journey, from which she can send practical messages so that young people can go through these special years with confidence and not lose themselves.” Runner-up Miss Vietnam 2016 Huynh Thi Thuy Dung – the speaker at the first panel discussion – shared her feelings about the event.

Panel discussion 2, titled “Breaking Barriers: Breaking Free from Traditional Gender Stereotypes,” featured successful female leaders such as German Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Dr. Josefine Wallat, entrepreneur Thai Van Linh, financial expert Mina Chung, and data expert Anne-Cathrine Koch sharing the challenges they have experienced, as well as the strategies and habits they have built to achieve their current success.
Finally, the third panel discussion, titled “Dare to be different: Stories from women who follow their passion,” featured real-life stories from SEA Games gold medalist in breaking bgirl Shun, pilot Khanh Ly, and technology director Tram Nguyen, who shared their experiences as a minority in their profession, while also motivating female students that no career is out of reach if they put in enough effort and passion.

“The PowHERful Female Student Forum has given female students great inspiration to overcome their limitations,” said entrepreneur Thai Van Linh. “Linh believes that by encouraging diversity, PowHERful will open a new door, creating a ripple effect for positive, creative changes among female students and in our community.”
The special thing about these discussions is that the moderators and leaders of these discussions are female students who have benefited from saigonchildren's support programs. Van Thi Muoi Ngoc - a third-year student majoring in Information Technology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education - the third moderator of the discussion, shared: "Taking on this task (coordinator) is exactly what I want to try to step out of my comfort zone and find the values I can bring. Listening to the sharing from the speakers today is a rare thing for me, it is the motivation for me to continue firmly on the path I have chosen."
