On July 29, the Swiss online magazine La Tribune des Nations, specializing in international and diplomatic issues, published an article by journalist Alain Jourdan about the meeting between National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife with Mr. and Mrs. Jacques Savary in Vevey, Switzerland, during a working trip to this European country.
At the beginning of the article, the author recalls the opportunity more than 20 years ago when Mr. Savary and his wife - as members of the Vietnam Medical Aids (VMA) organization - came to Vietnam to support the health sector of the Mekong Delta region, especially at hospitals in Can Tho city and Vi Thanh city (formerly Hau Giang province).
With the contributions of Mr. and Mrs. and the team of doctors of VMA, the hospitals have been enhanced in expertise, access to modern equipment, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for the people.
Although he returned home in 2002 due to health problems, Mr. Savary and his wife still have deep affection for Vietnam, and VMA continues to pursue many medical development programs in the region.
In the article, journalist Alain Jourdan called this a meeting between long-time friends, a gratitude from the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Swiss friends who have contributed to the cooperative relationship between the two countries as well as to the development of Vietnam; and the emotion of Mr. Savary, who will never forget the beautiful memories and warm affection of the Vietnamese people for his family, thereby affirming the "everlasting bond" over the past 30 years between him and the country and people of Vietnam./.
