Only a few days left until the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament officially kicks off in Thailand.
U23 Vietnam is actively preparing for U23 Southeast Asia 2023.
Before the tournament started, CNN Indonesia analyzed the preparation and strength of the championship candidates.
Notably, in the article, the Indonesian writer said that U23 Vietnam is the team with the best preparation and has a good chance of defending the championship.
“U23 Vietnam is the team with the best preparation before the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 tournament begins. They have gathered to practice since mid-July.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan was sent to lead the U23 Vietnam team. The squad he brought to this tournament is of no less quality than the U23 team led by Coach Troussier to participate in the 2024 U23 Asian Qualifiers.
U23 Vietnam is quite similar to Thailand in that it has a very long training period.
In addition, U23 Vietnam can also choose all the best players when they are enthusiastically supported by the clubs. They are the leading candidate for the championship in this year's tournament," CNN Indonesia commented.
At U23 Southeast Asia 2023, coach Hoang Anh Tuan only called up a squad consisting of many players from the U19, U20 and some names from U23 to join the team.
But up to now, coach Hoang Anh Tuan still does not have enough players to practice.
The players are expected to return to full training after completing their club duties.
Meanwhile, assessing the home team's preparation, CNN Indonesia media agency wrote: "Unlike U23 Vietnam, U23 Indonesia gathered very late.
Coach Shin Tae-yong called up a total of 23 players, but not everyone can join the team immediately.
Some clubs like PSM Makassar and Persija are still holding on to their players. Two players Alfeandra Dewangga and Adi Satryo are also not present.”
In this tournament, U23 Indonesia is in group B with Malaysia and East Timor.
Meanwhile, U23 Vietnam will face the Philippines and Laos in Group C, while Thailand will face Cambodia, Brunei and Myanmar in Group A.
