Child Tr. TNQ 15 years old, female, severe dengue shock, complications of respiratory failure and multiple organ damage, received intensive anti-shock treatment, mechanical ventilation, and continuous blood filtration.

Taking medical history, patient Q. had a high fever from day 1-3, no vomiting, no abdominal pain. On day 4, the fever subsided, accompanied by 4 vomitings, brown curdled fluid, cold hands and feet, admitted to City Children's Hospital, noted weak pulse, cool extremities, blood pressure dropped to 70/50mmHg, skin rash, skin color recovery lasted 4-5 seconds, diagnosed with severe dengue hemorrhagic shock.

The child's condition progressed with complicated organ dysfunction, sometimes improving, sometimes worsening. The child showed signs of hospital-acquired infection, so he continued to receive supportive treatment for his organs and broad-spectrum antibiotics. After nearly 3 months of treatment with 10 continuous dialysis sessions and organ support, the child's condition gradually improved, his urine output improved, his liver and kidney function returned to normal, he was taken off the ventilator, and he was alert...

After 3 months of treatment, the child's weight was 37kg. A nutritionist was consulted for a suitable diet to help the child recover physically.

Doctors recommend that parents should actively kill mosquitoes, larvae, sleep under mosquito nets and need to monitor and detect early signs to take their children to a medical facility promptly. That is, if the child has a high fever for more than 2 days, shows signs of fussiness, restlessness, tossing and turning, or lethargy, stomachache, cold hands and feet, and refuses to eat or drink... the child should be taken to the hospital immediately.
