Starting from October 2022, Thien Tam Fund ( Vingroup Corporation) will implement a project to support part of the cost of equipment and installation of Israel's NaanDanJain Irrigation smart irrigation system for 75 orange growing households with a total area of nearly 90 hectares in Huong Son and Vu Quang districts. Of which, the fund will sponsor 70% of the irrigation system cost and 100% of the training cost for the first 2 years; people will contribute 20% of the installation labor and 10% of the irrigation system cost. The pilot period is from October 2022 to December 2024.

The drip system is spread evenly over the entire growing area with a pressure valve system that allows for even water and nutrient delivery to each plant.
The family of Mr. Bui Dinh Quan, Hung Duc village, Duc Linh commune (Vu Quang) is one of the households supported by the project. In mid-2023, Mr. Quan's family received more than 70 million VND from the project to install a smart irrigation system for nearly 400 orange trees on the family's 2-hectare area.

Mr. Bui Dinh Quan shared: “The smart irrigation system has saved us a lot of effort when operating. Previously, on hot, dry days, there was a shortage of water and it was very difficult to pump water, but now with the irrigation system, the plants are provided with enough water for growth, development, and high absorption efficiency. Not only that, we can also apply fertilizer to plants through this irrigation system.”

Along with Mr. Quan, Vu Quang has 51 households with nearly 52 hectares of orange trees supported to install irrigation systems. All households highly appreciate the effectiveness of the automatic irrigation system in the process of drought resistance, supplementing appropriate nutrients, saving on fertilization and watering.

Supported earlier, at the end of 2022, Mr. Tran Duong Hung's family, village 2, Ham Truong commune (Huong Son) received support from the project. With an area of nearly 1 hectare of oranges, Mr. Hung's family received support of 56 million VND from the project.
Mr. Hung shared: “In the past, manually drawing water was very time-consuming and laborious. There were even times when drought lasted long and water sources were difficult, so we had to “gamble with the sky”. With the irrigation system, the trees are provided with a stable water source, grow better, and bring productivity and quality up to 20% higher than before. In particular, we also received enthusiastic technical support from the installation company, both in terms of techniques for using the irrigation system effectively and in terms of planting and caring for citrus trees. In the near future, I am planning to continue investing in and developing this irrigation system for the garden.”

As the unit that installed the irrigation system, Mr. Dinh Hai Lam - Director of KaiZen Agriculture Company Limited said: “This system has been around for a long time and has been applied in many places. In Ha Tinh, the implementation is quite limited, so when the project was put into operation, it contributed to changing people's awareness in applying technology to agricultural production. We regularly monitor the area, provide technical support, instruct on operation and repair, and regularly maintain the system. After more than 2 years of operation, the effectiveness has been proven. Hopefully, people will apply it more widely to develop production."
Assessing the effectiveness of the model, Mr. Nguyen Kieu Hung - Vice Chairman of Huong Son District People's Committee shared: "Huong Son District has 24 households participating in the support project of Thien Tam Fund on an area of 27 hectares of oranges. After more than 2 years of implementation, the support project has brought many benefits to the people and a new wind in agricultural production, changing the old production mindset. The district is actively mobilizing households to take advantage of support to continue to replicate the model".

The positive results of the project not only contribute to improving the economy for farmers but also create new values for the agricultural sector of Ha Tinh. Currently, in addition to the project by Thien Tam Fund (Vingroup), many agricultural production models in the province have widely applied the Israeli drip irrigation system. To replicate the model, localities need to continue to promote propaganda and encourage farms, especially in mountainous areas, to apply drip irrigation technology; form concentrated commodity production areas to attract businesses to invest in agriculture...
