Responding to the "Lighting candles in gratitude" activity with the youth of the whole country towards the milestone of 50 years of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on the evening of April 28, the Youth Union of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee coordinated with Vinh City Youth Union to organize a candle lighting ceremony at Vinh City Martyrs' Cemetery.
Participating in the Candle Lighting Ceremony were officers and soldiers of the North Central Coast Mobile Police Regiment and more than 500 officers and youth union members from the Youth Union of Vinh City and the Youth Union of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.
The cadres, soldiers and youth union members respectfully and solemnly stood in front of the memorial of heroes and martyrs of Vinh city to remember and express gratitude to the excellent sons of the homeland who devoted their entire lives to the cause of liberating the South and unifying the country.
Previously, the Youth Unions under the Provincial People's Committee Youth Union organized visits and presented gifts to veterans and martyrs' relatives. The gifts, though small, contained deep respect, gratitude and encouragement for the families of policy beneficiaries.

In addition, union members and young people listened to vivid historical stories from veterans, helping them better understand the difficulties and hardships that the previous generation experienced in the war to protect the Fatherland.
In addition to visiting and giving gifts, the Youth Union of the affiliated Youth Unions also coordinated with local delegations to organize cleaning and care activities for memorials and martyr cemeteries.
These activities not only help clean the environment but also create a solemn and respectful atmosphere, thereby affirming the commitment of the young generation to maintaining and promoting the tradition of patriotism.
A special activity on this occasion is the restoration of a photo of martyr Vo Van Long, born in 1947, who died on the Quang Tri battlefield in 1968 at the age of 21. Martyr Long's mother has always wished to have a memorial photo of her only son, who died on the battlefield.
Understanding this wish, comrade Nguyen Ho Manh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial People's Committee Youth Union, used technology such as ChatGPT, Facetune and Snapseed to reconstruct the image of martyr Long through the image of his sister and descriptions from relatives. This activity not only meets the family's wishes, but is also a symbol of respect and gratitude for the sacrifices of the heroes.

The Youth Union of Nghe An province also participated in the political art program “The South in the hearts of people” organized by Nghe An Radio and Television Station. This art program is not only an opportunity to honor the heroic martyrs but also conveys profound messages about love for the country and the spirit of national solidarity.
In addition, another outstanding activity was the thematic session “The Country and Rivers Together” organized through the screening of the documentary “Tunnels: The Sun in the Dark”. The film recreated the heroic battles in the tunnels, where the army and people of the South fought steadfastly in the war against the US to save the country.
These activities have created an atmosphere of solidarity, arousing pride in history and a sense of responsibility in the cause of national construction and development.
