I thought it was easy work and high salary but it's not!

In Nanning, China, 46-year-old Ms. Wang silently endured the bitterness and helplessness of working as a live-in maid. Living and eating with her employer every day, receiving a salary of up to 7,500 yuan (equivalent to 26.3 million VND), but Ms. Wang was not very happy.

She was born and raised in the countryside, and in order to support her child through college, she decided to leave her hometown and go to the city to work. After much research, Ms. Vuong found a job as a domestic helper. The employer was a middle-aged couple with a child in high school at home. She thought that this job would not only help her earn money but also help her have a stable place to live.

The first few months, Ms. Vuong felt that this job was not bad. The boss and his wife were easygoing, and the children were well-behaved. Every day, she was responsible for cleaning the house, cooking, and doing the laundry. However, as time passed, Ms. Vuong gradually discovered that this job was not as simple as she had imagined.

First of all, Ms. Vuong found it very inconvenient to live and eat with her employer. She had to always pay attention to her words and actions, for fear of accidentally violating the taboos of her employer's house. When eating, she had to wait for her employer to use her chopsticks first, and when sleeping, she had to wait until everyone had rested before turning off the lights. Such a restricted life gradually made her depressed.

Second, the high intensity of work is also one of the reasons why Auntie Vuong is uncomfortable. Every day she has to work from morning to night, with almost no time to rest. Sometimes when the boss has guests coming to the house or their children have unexpected matters, she has to work overtime until late at night. The long, hard working hours gradually make the 46-year-old woman's body unable to bear it, but she dares not complain because she knows that this job is not easy to find.

What made Ms. Wang even more unbearable was that her employers' attitudes toward her had gradually changed. They began to find fault, accusing her of not doing her job well enough. Sometimes, just because the food was not good or the floor was dirty, they would fly into a rage.

Another thing that made Ms. Vuong feel most hopeless was the attitude of the children in the house. As time passed, the children's respect gradually disappeared. Just like their parents, these children began to treat her less intimately, sometimes even speaking harshly.

Faced with this dilemma, Ms. Wang once proposed to her employer in the hope of improving their relationship. But the employer and his wife did not seem to realize the seriousness of the problem. Such situations continued to occur. This made Ms. Wang feel very helpless and hopeless. She began to doubt whether her initial choice was correct.

By chance, Ms. Vuong met a friend who also worked as a maid. This person told her that he had experienced a similar dilemma. Later, she chose to quit her job to find a more suitable family.

After listening to her friend’s story and considering it carefully, Ms. Wang decided to quit her job. She knew that doing so would mean losing her stable job, but she also knew that she could no longer endure such a life. She believed that she would find a more suitable job and have a more comfortable life.

The story of the 46-year-old woman, after being posted online, has caused mixed opinions. Some people think that working for someone else is acceptable. Others say that no matter what job you do, you should be respected.

But Ms. Vuong's case has more or less shown us the dark side of the job of a maid living with an employer. Outsiders may see it as a "light work, high salary" job, but in reality, it has a price to pay.
