Commending brave union member who saved child from flood water

On the morning of October 5, the Standing Committee of Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union organized a ceremony to commend and award a certificate of merit to Ho Quoc Hieu (born in 2000, residing in Vong Son village, Son Phu commune) for his brave act of saving people in the flood.

Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ha Tinh province, Secretary of Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union Nguyen Ny Huong and leaders of local organizations awarded a certificate of merit to Mr. Ho Quoc Hieu.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 30, Nguyen Bao Khang (7 years old, resident of Son Phu commune) unfortunately slipped and fell into the floodwaters at Pho Giang spillway and was swept away. At that moment, Ho Quoc Hieu and his relatives passed by, discovered the incident, immediately jumped into the rushing water, promptly brought the child to shore safely.

Mr. Hieu’s brave and dangerous actions were highly appreciated by the people, local authorities and the community. It is known that this was the second time he had saved a person in distress.

The Standing Committee of Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union has submitted to the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for consideration of awarding the "Brave Youth" Badge to Ho Quoc Hieu.
