Propaganda of Vietnam Border Law and prevention of illegal fishing (IUU)

TTH.VN - On June 7, the Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated with the Provincial Fisheries Sub-Department; Dien Hoa Commune People's Committee (Phong Dien District) and Phong Hai Border Guard Station to disseminate the Vietnam Border Guard Law (BPVN); Legal fishing activities, combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing (IUU) to more than 70 fishermen and the Village Chief of Dien Hoa Commune, Phong Dien District.

In order to have a deeper awareness of the responsibility of the people in participating in protecting the national border sovereignty . At the propaganda session, fishermen were informed of important things practically related to the army and people of the border such as: Regulations on border activities; coordination in implementing border activities; prohibited acts, responsibilities of agencies, organizations, individuals, and local authorities in performing border tasks in the sea border area, actively coordinating with the Border Guard to promote the spirit of denouncing crimes to contribute to maintaining border security...

Major Cao Chi Luyen, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Provincial Border Guard, said: Border Guard units have also stepped up coordination with local authorities to propagate the Law on Border Guard in many forms such as: Direct and online conferences; through loudspeaker systems in communes, wards and towns in border areas; through billboards, posters, leaflets... The propaganda content has also been selected and deployed by units to be concise, easy to listen to, easy to understand and easy to remember.

Also at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Bon, Department of Fisheries of the province, introduced the basic contents of the regulations of the European Commission on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; regulations of the Fisheries Law and related legal documents on combating IUU fishing; information on some regulations on fishing activities at sea, emphasizing the sanctions of Vietnam and other countries for violations.

Through the propaganda session, we aim to continue to create a strong change in the people's awareness of respecting and complying with the laws of Vietnam and other countries in the region on marine fisheries exploitation. Timely and fully propagate and disseminate the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State, and the legal regulations of countries with seas in the region in the field of marine fisheries exploitation and the security and order situation at sea.
