Cai Lay Town organizes the death anniversary of comrade Phan Van Khoe

(ABO) On the morning of March 12, Cai Lay Town ( Tien Giang Province) held the 78th death anniversary of comrade Phan Van Khoe, former Secretary of the Southern Regional Party Committee (1946 - 2024).

Attending the ceremony were comrades: Vo Van Binh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Chau Thi My Phuong, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Phan Phung Phu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Cai Lay Town Party Committee... Also attending the memorial service were relatives of comrade Phan Van Khoe.

Comrade Phan Van Khoe was born and raised in My Hanh Dong village, Cai Lay district, My Tho province (now My Hanh Dong commune, Cai Lay town, Tien Giang province). In 1928, he participated in revolutionary activities. In early 1930, he was one of the first members of the Communist Party of Vietnam in Cai Lay district.

In 1933, he was Deputy Secretary of the My Tho Provincial Party Committee. In 1936, he was a member of the Southern Region Committee, in charge of the revolutionary movement in the Central Southern provinces. In early 1940, he was a member of the Standing Committee of the Southern Region Party Committee and Secretary of the My Tho Provincial Party Committee.

In March 1940, the Standing Committee of the Southern Regional Party Committee drafted an outline to prepare for a riot, and assigned him to direct the design of the flag of the Indochinese National United Front against Imperialism (the red flag with a five-pointed yellow star, the current national flag of our country). In November 1940, he and his comrades in the Provincial Party Committee led the uprising and established a revolutionary government in My Tho province. In early 1941, he was the Secretary of the Southern Regional Party Committee. In mid-1941, on a business trip from My Tho province to Ben Tre province, he was arrested and then sentenced to exile in Con Dao.

After the success of the August Revolution in 1945, comrade Phan Van Khoe returned to continue working in My Tho province as a Special Envoy of the Southern Regional Party Committee. In early March 1946, on his way from Cai Lay district to Cai Be district, he was arrested. On the night of March 7, 1946 (February 3, Binh Tuat year), the enemy murdered him at Ba Doi Phan hill (a cemetery east of Cai Lay market).

Throughout his life of revolutionary activities, comrade Phan Van Khoe was present in the most difficult and arduous places; sacrificed and fought his whole life for the Party's ideals; wholeheartedly served the Fatherland and the people. Comrade Phan Van Khoe's contributions and contributions to his homeland and the revolution were immense. His life of activities and contributions have further enhanced the glorious tradition of his homeland and the Vietnamese people; the great events in the Southern Uprising that took place in My Tho province all had the participation and contributions of comrade Phan Van Khoe. To recognize his contributions to the Vietnamese Revolution, on May 30, 1998, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal to comrade Phan Van Khoe.

Speaking at the death anniversary ceremony, comrade Tran Van Thuc, Chairman of Cai Lay Town People's Committee emphasized that, proud of the tradition of the heroic homeland of Ap Bac and the homeland of the Secretary of the Southern Regional Party Committee, the entire Party, the entire army and the entire people of Cai Lay Town will forever be a unified bloc, working together, striving to develop the socio-economy, maintain national defense and security, to build the homeland of Cai Lay Town to be increasingly rich and strong, worthy of the attention of leaders at all levels and the aspirations of the people, especially the comrades and compatriots who lived, fought, contributed and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of their homeland.
