Foreign exchange rates on May 9: Central rate increases sharply

DNVN - On May 9, the central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong (VND) and the US Dollar (USD) recorded a significant increase, while the USD exchange rate at the commercial banking system remained unchanged compared to the previous session.

Specifically, the State Bank raised the central exchange rate by 24 VND compared to the morning of May 8, reaching 24,951 VND/USD. With a fluctuation range of ±5% compared to the central exchange rate, the ceiling is determined to be 26,199 VND/USD, while the floor is 23,703 VND/USD. The reference exchange rate at the State Bank's Exchange is listed at 23,731 VND/USD for buying and 26,123 VND/USD for selling.

At commercial banks, at 8:14 this morning, the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank and BIDV remained stable at 25,780 - 26,140 VND/USD (buy - sell), no change compared to May 8.

For the Chinese Yuan (CNY), Vietcombank lowered the buying price by 5 VND and the selling price by 4 VND compared to the morning of May 8, bringing the listed price down to 3,532 - 3,646 VND/CNY (buy - sell). At the same time, BIDV also adjusted down 5 VND in both directions, recording the CNY exchange rate at 3,550 - 3,647 VND/CNY (buy - sell).
