USD exchange rate in the world last week
The US dollar faced general downward pressure last week, as trade negotiations between the US, Japan and the EU caused uncertainty.

The US dollar fell against most currencies on July 22, in line with falling US Treasury yields, as investors braced for market volatility as the deadline for tariff negotiations with the US approaches.
The dollar continued to fall on Monday, while the yen was among the major currencies that rose sharply against the greenback, as investors watched the negotiations ahead of an August 1 deadline that could lead to higher tariffs on goods from U.S. trading partners if no deal is reached. The dollar fell 0.5% to 146.54 yen, after falling more than 1% on Monday due to the election weekend and the holiday.
The dollar rose against the Swiss franc and the euro but weakened against the yen on July 24 as positive sentiment from a new US trade deal was overshadowed by political uncertainty surrounding the future of Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru. US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced a trade deal with Japan that would cut tariffs on imported cars from the country to 15% in exchange for $550 billion in US investment, the most significant of the deals Trump has signed since imposing sweeping global tariffs in April.
The US dollar rose slightly on July 25 after the European Central Bank (ECB) kept interest rates unchanged, with the market focusing on tariffs and the US Federal Reserve’s (Fed) policy. The US dollar rose 0.27% against the yen to 146.88 yen, after hitting a two-week low of 145.86 yen.
The US dollar continued to rise on July 26, supported by positive economic data suggesting that the Fed may not be in a hurry to resume its rate-cutting cycle. At the same time, clearer progress in tariff negotiations has somewhat eased market uncertainty.
Thus, over the past week, the USD has experienced a clear decline, with only a small recovery at the end of the week but not enough to offset the entire recent decline.
