Good news from U.23 Vietnam
Vietnam U23 defeated China U23 with a score of 1-0 in the opening match of the 2025 international friendly tournament, which took place at 6:35 p.m. yesterday (November 13). Pham Minh Phuc's only goal helped the team of acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh enjoy joy in the opening match.
After 6 years, U.23 Vietnam defeated U.23 China on away field. This victory is even more impressive, in the context that most of Mr. Kim's students have been playing for the Vietnamese national team for less than 1 year.
Although they had just assembled a complete team for the first time since September, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh's students still played cohesively and smoothly. Even in the second half, U.23 Vietnam continued to dominate the field, creating many opportunities and pressing, causing the opponent to make mistakes. A goal was an inevitable consequence.

The victory not only brought joy to coach Dinh Hong Vinh and his team, but also brought encouragement before the SEA Games. Over the past year, although U.23 Vietnam has made progress with a winning streak spanning from Southeast Asia to Asia, it still lacks big matches against strong opponents in Asia to assert itself. U.23 Vietnam has found that in the match against U.23 China, and the remaining 2 matches against U.23 Uzbekistan and U.23 Korea will continue to be the "test" of the mettle of Van Truong and his teammates.
The last time U.23 Vietnam won convincingly in China was in 2019. Tien Linh's double helped Park Hang-seo's team win 2-0 against U.23 China. After that, coach Guus Hiddink of U.23 China left his position.
Meanwhile, U.23 Vietnam won the SEA Games 30 (December 2019) with 7 unbeaten matches, with the best defensive and offensive records in the tournament. Quang Hai and his teammates defeated U.23 Brunei (6-0), U.23 Laos (6-1), U.23 Indonesia (2-1, 3-0), U.23 Cambodia (4-0), and drew with U.23 Thailand (2-2).
Therefore, a repeat victory against U.23 China could bring good luck to U.23 Vietnam, as SEA Games 33 approaches.
U.23 Vietnam will face U.23 Uzbekistan on November 15, then meet U.23 Korea in the final match on November 18.
