After the tour and training at the CFA Team China - Panda Cup 2025 International Friendly Tournament taking place in China on the occasion of FIFA Days in November 2025, the U22 Vietnam team has completed its framework, ready to embark on the journey to conquer the gold medal in men's football at the 33rd SEA Games.
The core of the U22 Vietnam team is made up of experienced players who won the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship and reached the final round of the 2026 Asian U23 Championship with a perfect record in the qualifying round. After more than a year of training and competing together, the U22 Vietnam team not only understands the coaching staff's playing philosophy, but also skillfully operates a variety of tactical strategies.

The plus point of U22 Vietnam at the present time is the physical foundation and the resilient fighting spirit. Depending on the opponent, the young Vietnamese players will have a reasonable response plan: proactively defend and counterattack with the 5-3-2 or 4-3-1-2 formation, increase high-level pressing when switching to the 3-4-3 or 3-4-1-2 formation...
U22 Vietnam plays steadily thanks to many key players who have played for the national team or regularly played in the V-League. This group of players plays a core role in the tactical operation and is spread evenly across the starting lineup. In particular, goalkeeper Trung Kien combines with central defenders Ly Duc, Hieu Minh, Nhat Minh to create a solid defensive wall; the skeleton is made up of versatile midfielders, all-round attackers and defenders: Van Khang, Thai Son, Xuan Bac, Duc Viet or Viktor Le...
In this 33rd SEA Games, Coach Kim Sang-sik boldly increased the attacking power by calling up many veteran strikers such as Dinh Bac, Vi Hao, Thanh Nhan, Quoc Viet and Ngoc My. Looking at the list of U22 Vietnam, experts predict that Mr. Kim Sang-sik will apply the football philosophy of controlling the ball and proactively attacking at the 33rd SEA Games. This is also the tactic that Mr. Kim and his team successfully applied when winning the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
Witnessing the good performance of U22 Vietnam against strong teams in Asia such as Korea, Uzbekistan or China recently, fans expect the team led by Mr. Kim Sang-sik to overcome the "heavyweight" candidates to complete the highest goal at the upcoming SEA Games.
In the tournament taking place in Thailand, the host team, U22 Indonesia and U22 Malaysia will be the teams competing for the championship with U22 Vietnam. In the group stage, Mr. Kim and his team will meet U22 Laos (December 4) and U22 Malaysia (December 11).
According to the plan, the U22 Vietnam team will gather and practice in Vung Tau on November 23, before moving to Thailand on December 1. Despite losing some key players before the tournament, the coaching staff has planned to rotate the squad, while maximizing the cohesion and mettle of each player.
U22 Vietnam is on the right track that was built early on and confidently entering SEA Games 33, aiming to compete for the throne and affirm the position of Vietnamese youth football in Southeast Asia.
