According to the military news site Avia Pro , the Ukrainian Weapons Tracker analysis group has published a video of a Russian 2S4 Tyulpan 240mm self-propelled mortar being destroyed in a raid by the Ukrainian armed forces.

Four Ukrainian armed units are believed to have taken part in the raid, including the Solovey air reconnaissance unit, the 116th brigade of the territorial defense forces, the 79th air assault brigade and the 55th artillery brigade.

Footage from the video shows a Russian mortar battery positioned among residential areas and coming under fire from the 55th Artillery Brigade.

After the attack, a Russian self-propelled mortar was set on fire. The incident is believed to have occurred on the outskirts of the city of Mariyinka, southeastern Ukraine.

The group that posted the video did not reveal the type of weapon used in the raid, but the 55th Artillery Brigade was equipped with French Caesar self-propelled guns.

The Caesar self-propelled gun uses a 155mm howitzer mounted on a wheeled truck chassis powered by a Renault engine. The Caesar howitzer can fire at a rate of 6-8 rounds per minute and can fire a salvo of 3 rounds within 18 seconds.

Normally, the Caesar's firing range is 34km but can be increased to 55km if using VLAP rocket artillery shells. With its light weight and a speed of up to 100km/h, this self-propelled gun is said to be suitable for combat conditions in Ukraine.

The French government has decided to provide Ukraine with a large number of the most modern Caesar self-propelled guns in service. These state-of-the-art weapons were immediately put into use and brought combat effectiveness on the battlefield, helping Ukraine balance the firepower advantage with the Russian army.

The 2S4 Tyulpan "Steel Tulip" mortar was designed by engineers from the SKB design bureau of the Perm machine-building plant in 1967. This weapon was put into service with the Soviet army in 1975 and immediately became one of the most powerful self-propelled guns not only in Europe but also in the world.

The 2S4 can fire 240mm mortar shells and is currently the world's largest mortar shell. The 2S4 can launch a variety of firepower, from high-explosive shells, armor-piercing shells, ranged shells, cluster shells, guided shells to nuclear warheads with a yield of up to 2 kilotons.

Thanks to the rainbow trajectory of the bullet, the 2S4 Tyulpan can destroy obscured targets, located deep in the defense lines.

The 2S4 is highly mobile and can fire effectively in many combat situations in different terrain areas, notably its flexibility in destroying targets in canyons, caves, and even fortresses.

2S4 has a range of about 20km. According to military experts, if 5 of these complexes are deployed and fired simultaneously, it is capable of creating a "rain of fire", strong enough to destroy many solid buildings and armored vehicles of the enemy.
