Pursuant to Decision No. 463/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the Project "Developing and forming a Center for Medicinal Materials Industry in Quang Nam Province with Ngoc Linh ginseng as the main crop", Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Le Van Dung and Colonel Nguyen Manh Ho, General Director of Viettel Enterprise Solutions Corporation (Viettel Solutions), a core member unit of Viettel Group, signed a memorandum of strategic cooperation between the two parties.
According to the agreement, Viettel will participate in the commercial distribution chain and develop the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand, taking advantage of the widespread business ecosystem nationwide and moving towards exporting to international markets. At the same time, the Group will apply comprehensive digital technology to enhance the value, quality and ensure sustainable development of this national medicinal herb.
Specifically, Viettel will coordinate research and build a model of a smart ginseng growing area in the locality, applying IoT and artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor microclimate, pests and the growth process of ginseng in real time. Security camera systems and IoT sensors will be deployed in growing areas to support people in monitoring gardens remotely, preventing theft and optimizing production. At the same time, an electronic traceability system will be established to clarify quality, prevent counterfeiting and protect the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand.
In addition, Viettel cooperates with institutes and universities to invest in research and build local laboratories to serve tissue culture and large-scale in vitro propagation, ensuring high-quality seedlings. At the same time, technology is applied to develop a Ngoc Linh ginseng gene bank to preserve and conserve rare genetic resources.
The two sides have outlined a long-term cooperation roadmap, aiming to invest in building a factory to process, extract essence and produce products from Ngoc Linh ginseng such as: Health protection medicinal herbs, functional foods, beauty essences and other high-value product lines.
In the immediate future, in phase 1 of 2025, Viettel will commercially distribute and develop the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand, taking advantage of Viettel's extensive business ecosystem and establishing an online sales channel for Ngoc Linh ginseng products, delivering to 63 provinces and cities and moving towards export.
In the next 2 years, the smart ginseng growing area model will be deployed in Quang Nam with full IoT, AI, security and traceability applications.
It is expected that from 2027, Viettel Group will research and cooperate with institutes, schools, invest in research and laboratories in Quang Nam to test, cultivate tissue, and propagate in vitro on a large scale, ensuring high-quality seedlings, contributing to the goal of producing 5-10 million seedlings/year. Cooperate to develop a Ngoc Linh ginseng gene bank to preserve and conserve rare genetic resources for a long time.
Quang Nam province will create the most favorable conditions for Viettel Group to survey and research investment projects in the locality.
Through the cooperation program, the two sides committed to promoting investment, production, processing and development of Ngoc Linh ginseng, aiming at sustainable development, enhancing economic value and preserving rare genetic resources of Ngoc Linh ginseng and medicinal herbs in Quang Nam province.
