Great honor
Currently a female militia member on duty at the Phu Nhuan District Military Command, Le Thao Ngan (born in 2001) could not hide her emotions when recalling the moment she received information about the selection of the Southern Female Guerrilla Bloc in preparation for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. “I immediately registered to participate. I wanted to once carry out the sacred duty of the Fatherland,” Ngan said.

Through rigorous selection rounds, the first time she set foot in the Ho Chi Minh City Command for training, Ngan seemed to enter a completely different world , where everything had to start with strict discipline.
“I am not used to group activities and I am also picky about food, but thanks to the help of teachers and seniors, I feel more open. Now I feel happy and attached,” Ngan shared.

On June 4, Ngan and her teammates will march to Hanoi to continue their training at National Military School 4 - Mieu Mon. Ngan has never been to Hanoi before, so she is very excited, counting down the days to Ba Dinh Square and visit Uncle Ho's Mausoleum.
“To stand in the parade formation and march through the historic Ba Dinh Square is a great honor for me,” Ngan said. The young girl who once dreamed of marching in the parade formation is now living her dream.
According to Major Nguyen Minh Toan, Assistant Training Officer of the General Staff Department, Ho Chi Minh City Command, the Southern Female Guerrilla Unit has a total of 188 soldiers, and is being trained in two phases. Phase 1 takes place from May 5 to June 3 at the Ho Chi Minh City Command.
It is expected that on June 4, the entire block will move by train from Saigon station to National Military Training Center 4 (Chuong My district, Hanoi) to enter the second training phase.
Major Nguyen Minh Toan said that in this training team, about 30% of the soldiers are new and have never participated in previous parades.
Therefore, the unit was divided into two separate teams: one team consisted of experienced soldiers, who were trained in advanced steps (steps 2 and 3); the other team consisted of new people, who were trained from the beginning (steps 1 to 3).
At National Military Training Center 4, soldiers continued to practice with music, supplementary exercises and slow practice to get used to the large-scale parade formation (16 rows x 10 people).
The most precious luggage
Not only Le Thao Ngan, young people like Giang Hoang Nam Anh (born in 2005), a regular militiaman of Hiep Binh Phuoc ward (Thu Duc city), are also working hard to practice every day for a great honor. This is the third time Nam Anh has participated in the parade, after participating twice at the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory and the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
“The weather is sometimes scorching hot, sometimes it rains suddenly, affecting the training process as well as the physical strength of the female team. However, overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain, and practicing enthusiastically is still the highest common spirit of the team,” said Nam Anh.
As an experienced person, Nam Anh not only practiced seriously but also guided the new teammates enthusiastically. Nam Anh also advised his teammates to prepare mentally and physically when coming to the capital: "I told you guys to prepare mentally and physically to avoid the change in weather. The most valuable and important luggage is spirit and high determination to complete the mission excellently."
In the upcoming parade, Nam Anh hopes to bring the image of the indomitable, loyal, and capable women of the Southeast region to the capital. “Representing the youth of the South, we all hope to demonstrate the heroic spirit of the female guerrillas of the past. That is the tradition and pride that the women's bloc is continuing,” Nam Anh shared.
After hours of sweaty training, there are simple but warm and loving meals together. During breaks, laughter resounds in the barracks yard. Female soldiers tell each other stories about home, school, love, etc. Those simple moments make the barracks not only a place for training, but also a home.
On the afternoon of May 29, the Ho Chi Minh City Command held a ceremony to send off the Southern Women's Guerrilla Bloc's cadres and soldiers to participate in the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
At the ceremony, Major General Vu Van Dien, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, shared: “In every step of the Southern Women's Guerrilla Bloc, there are the expectations of many previous generations, and the pride of the entire heroic city. I believe that the women's bloc will successfully complete its mission, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City famous - a heroic, civilized, modern, and affectionate city in the eyes of domestic and international friends.”
