Literature and art continue and spread Ho Chi Minh's ideology

(GLO)- It is difficult to fully count the number of literary and artistic works inspired by the life, revolutionary career, ideology, morality and style of President Ho Chi Minh.

In Gia Lai, there are also many works spreading the spirit of love, respect, learning and following Uncle Ho that are highly appreciated by listeners and viewers.

At the award ceremony for the Creation and Promotion of Literary, Artistic and Journalistic Works on the theme “Studying and Following Ho Chi Minh’s Thought, Morality and Style” in the second phase, 2021-2025 period, organized by the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission in coordination with Vietnam Television in Hanoi, Gia Lai had 7 winning works out of a total of 269 works honored on this occasion. The above results reflect the serious, democratic and scientific working process of the Jury to select from thousands of entries.

Notably, 6 award-winning works were from members of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association. Specifically, 2 B prizes were awarded to the following works: the short story collection “The Glorious Season” (Hoang Thanh Huong); the documentary “The Story of the Village Elder Ksor H'Blam” (screenwriter Hoang Thanh Huong, director Phan Huynh Trang, produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company). 4 consolation prizes were awarded to the following works: the short story “Mai Hoa Quyen” (Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy); the short story “Gio Scratch Dem” (Le Vi Thuy); the odd works collection (Le Thi Kim Son) and the song “Gia Lai Theo Dang, Bac Ho” (Thao Nam Giang). Among these, the song by musician Thao Nam Giang was honored to be selected to perform at the award ceremony.

The Bahnar musician recalled: While walking in the Great Unity Square (Pleiku City), reading each line of Uncle Ho's letter to the Southern Ethnic Minorities Congress in Pleiku in 1946, which was engraved on stone, his heart was filled with emotion. From that inspiration, he wrote lyrics expressing the feelings of a son of the Central Highlands for Uncle Ho: "Gia Lai, my homeland, where folk songs are passionately sung/Whoever sings more will be forever heroic with the feats/Gia Lai today always remembers Uncle Ho's teachings, happiness comes to villages near and far, prosperity forever/Innovation on the road ahead/Joyful, bustling, Gia Lai festival day, together following the Party's words/Gia Lai reaches far and wide".

Singer Trong Tan was the first to perform this song at the opening ceremony of Gia Lai Culture- Tourism Week and the Central Highlands Gong Performance Festival 2023. Musician Thao Nam Giang said: "Through the work, I hope to contribute a small part to express my love and respect for Uncle Ho and spread his ideology, morality, and style."

In the Literature category, the work “Mai Hoa Quyen” by author Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy also represents that spirit when it realistically depicts the image of a Mobile Police soldier in the fight against the widespread use of homemade guns in the ethnic minority areas of the Central Highlands. With a concise writing style and engaging storytelling on a topic that is not easy to express, the work was awarded a special prize at the writing contest on the topic “Mobile Police - Steel Shield Protecting Peaceful Life” in 2023.

Talking about the work, Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy said: What she wanted to portray in the short story “Mai Hoa Quyen” is the simple, genuine beauty and the silent, noble sacrifice of the People’s Police soldiers. That selflessness is happening every day, every hour, in every part of the country, even in peacetime. Behind every achievement of the Police force is sweat, tears and sometimes it has to be exchanged with life.

“They are devoted to their duty, ready to die for the peace of the village, the safety of every citizen. The sacrifice of the police officer in the work is just a small example, but I believe that it is a humane, close beauty, imbued with the spirit of studying and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh, a sacred connection between the police force and the people, with the village, with the family and the next generations” - Ms. Thuy shared about the emotional flow of the work.

Meanwhile, author Hoang Thanh Huong also expressed her honor and happiness when she won 2 B prizes at this prestigious award. In the field of Literature and Arts of Ethnic Minorities, her short story collection “The Bright Side” (Da Nang Publishing House, 2023) was recognized for its humane stories about the spirit of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, efforts to protect traditional culture, and praise for Border Guard soldiers protecting the border...

In the Cinema major, the documentary “The Story of the Village Elder Ksor H'Blâm” for which she wrote the script was also selected and awarded a worthy prize. Ms. Huong said that the script focuses on the village elder H'Blâm - a prestigious person, a "living landmark" in the Chu Prong border area. She is the one who stands up to mediate disputes, mobilizes people not to destroy forests, protect border land, and fight against bad guys who take advantage of national division; at the same time, she contributes to educating the younger generation to live responsibly, love the country, and love their fellow countrymen.

“This reminds me of Uncle Ho’s teaching: “Whatever is beneficial to the people, we must do our best.” The documentary script is built in the spirit of studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s moral example, with political, cultural and historical significance,” Ms. Huong commented.
