On the afternoon of April 18, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, and the Truth National Political Publishing House to organize the national scientific conference "50 years of Vietnamese literature and art after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) - Issues and development orientations".
Literature and art play a special role
After the country's reunification, Vietnamese literature and art entered a new phase. The phase of creation in peace, building the country. The touching works of literature and art have added confidence, strongly aroused the desire to develop the country, nurtured a deep love for the homeland and the will to rise up for a prosperous and powerful Vietnam.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, emphasized that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 brought our country to a new page of history - peace and unity, and at the same time opened a new atmosphere for the country's literature and arts.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Duy Bac, Permanent Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, acknowledged: Literature and art after 50 years of national reunification still have some limitations, posing many urgent issues for the management, creation, theory - criticism and dissemination of literary and artistic works. In terms of content and ideological value, contemporary literature and art still lacks works of high ideological and artistic value, commensurate with the stature of the Doi Moi process initiated and led by the Party and the cultural and historical depth of the nation.
A part of the creative work is still far from reality, following easy tastes, leaning towards commerce and entertainment, lacking political and ideological courage. Regarding the team of artists, there is currently a clear generation gap: the generation of artists who have created works before, with rich life experiences and deep thoughts, are gradually retreating into the background due to age and health; meanwhile, the young force, although dynamic, creative, and quick to approach new things, lacks depth of experience and solid value orientation.
The mechanisms and policies for developing the arts and culture, and the reality show that there is a significant lag between the policies and the strong development practices of the arts and culture. The traditional regulations and management models have not kept pace with the new creative characteristics, causing the development space of the arts and culture to still be constrained and passive.
In addition, the lack of close connection between cultural - educational - media institutions, state - society - market and cultural industry is slowing down the process of forming a dynamic, multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary cultural and artistic creative ecosystem that keeps up with the trend of the times.
Ensuring creative freedom of artists
Speaking at the workshop, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized the need for artists and cultural and artistic activists to stick closer to and immerse themselves in the vivid reality of the country, promote social responsibility and civic duty, explore and create, and constantly expand the scope and depth of capturing reality.
The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission also expressed that in the process of institutionalizing the Party's viewpoints and policies into laws, the system of mechanisms and policies needs to ensure consistency, science, and practicality, focusing on ensuring creative freedom, improving working conditions, and liberating and promoting the creative potential of artists.
At the same time, continue to build mechanisms to provide information and listen to criticism; ensure that artists and writers grasp and absorb the viewpoints, guidelines and orientations of the Party and the State's policies. Thereby strengthening trust, unifying awareness and joining hands and unanimously implementing. At the same time, promptly plan appropriate and effective mechanisms and policies for creative activities and promoting valuable literary and artistic works to the domestic public and international friends.
"According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, artists need to deeply explain and interpret new and important issues, and strive to create more attractive works that are profound in ideological content and new in form.
