The image is said to be of athletes running on the street with heavy traffic.
The video is said to be images of the VPBank Can Tho Music Night Run 2024 held in Can Tho yesterday (April 13). Accordingly, the athletes participated in the race running alongside the crowded traffic on the streets during rush hour. The participants ran and had to weave to avoid traffic.
"When participating in a paid race, I expect traffic control to be safe, first and foremost for the athletes. The safety of the athletes should be the top priority," shared Facebook account Lam Tuc Ngan - the person who posted the video . Lam Tuc Ngan is also a famous athlete in the amateur running community in Vietnam.
She added: "We cannot blame the people because this is a traffic control task. There is only one way to move. Everyone's job is to use that road. The rest is a backup plan, moving people in the area is the responsibility of the organizing committee and the locality. If we cannot control it, we will change to another road."

Normally, in amateur races, the organizers have to work with the authorities to regulate traffic. This is to ensure the safety of the participating athletes - who often number in the thousands. In fact, images recorded by the organizers and posted on social media show that there is traffic regulation on the route.
However, in the video posted on social media, there is no sign of volunteers or the system of ropes, lines, and markers blocking the running lanes for athletes on a stretch of road.
This not only hinders and inconveniences the athletes competing as well as the traffic participants. The lack of reasonable traffic arrangement causes safety risks on the streets, when runners have to go with the heavy traffic.
"The organizers should pay more attention to the safety of both traffic participants and runners. If road closures are not feasible in some specific and very difficult localities, the race should not be held. In addition to being unsafe, it also affects the reputation and brand of the organizers and sponsors," another account commented below the article.
