If you have the opportunity to travel to Ha Giang, you can visit the Sao Ha village of the H'Mong people, an emerging destination in the travel enthusiast community.
Sao Ha village belongs to Kho Cho hamlet, located in Van Chai commune, about 20km from the center of Dong Van district ( Ha Giang ). After the village was used as the setting for the movie "Tet in Hell village", it quickly became an attractive destination for tourists.
Sao Ha Village is a new "phenomenon" on the Ha Giang tourism map, sought after by many travel enthusiasts.
The beauty of a thousand-year-old village with no phone signal on a high mountain.
Sao Ha in H'Mong means "high valley", the village is located at an altitude of more than 1,500m above sea level, with only 22 households living. The small village is peacefully nestled in the middle of the Van Chai primeval forest. Surrounded by mountains and forests, this place still retains its wild beauty, with a hint of mystery.
If starting from the center of Ha Giang city, visitors drive along National Highway 4C to Tham Ma slope, then turn into Van Chai commune, go to Kho Cho, ask for directions to Sao Ha village.
The trail into the village has been concreted but is not easy to travel, cars cannot reach the village. About the last 3km, the small road becomes narrower, steeper, has many dangerous hairpin bends, one side is a cliff, the other side is a deep abyss, can only be traveled by motorbike.
For convenience and to avoid getting lost, visitors should hire a local motorbike taxi to take them to the village.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Manh, a tourist from Hanoi , had the opportunity to visit Sao Ha village and said: “I came to the village one afternoon. The wild scenery at first glance made me feel a bit scared. The village is surrounded by ancient trees, the whole village is covered with a gloomy, quiet look. Sao Ha village is not on the map, everyone should be careful to ask for directions to get here.”
The best time to visit the village is in the spring, visit from around 8-9am in the morning. At that time, the whole village is covered in early morning mist and comes to life thanks to the blooming peach blossoms, showing off their bright pink color.
The Hmong people's houses are scattered on the high mountains. Children play in front of the houses.
In Sao Ha, there are about 20 houses with mud walls and roofs covered with yin-yang tiles. The houses are located in clusters, scattered, surrounded by sturdy stone fences about 1.5m high, covered with moss.
The villagers mainly live and work in a self-sufficient way. They often grow corn, cat vegetables and raise goats. The village also grows a lot of flax, which is used for weaving.
The "playground" of children in the highlands is hillsides, rice fields, vacant lots... located in the middle of the mountains and forests.
Coming here, visitors will admire the beauty of the ancient primeval forest and explore the life of the H'Mong people. The village has not yet exploited tourism services, so visitors mainly come and go in the same day. Please note not to litter in the village, maintain public order so as not to affect the lives of the people.
Female tourists take souvenir photos next to the stone wall in the village.
"I have visited many mountain villages, but nowhere has the feeling of coldness like in Sao Ha village. The village is small, there is no phone signal. In return, the people are very friendly and hospitable. However, due to the quiet, gloomy space and dangerous terrain, in my opinion, those who are 'faint-hearted' should not come here," said Mr. Manh.
