At exactly 8 o'clock on July 19, the hall on the 3rd floor of the Provincial General Hospital was packed. On the faces of nearly 120 war veterans attending the health check-up, consultation, and gift-giving program for war veterans and former youth volunteers, everyone was excited to meet their comrades and tell each other about the fiery memories of the past. But what excited them most was the gratitude of today's generation for those who had contributed to repelling the invaders, contributing to building and protecting the beautiful Fatherland. Feeling emotional when participating in the program on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, chaired by the Department of Health in coordination with the Provincial War Veterans Association, Mr. Pham Duc Cu, Nam Thanh Ward, Dien Bien Phu City shared: Today is a very meaningful day. We are happy because all levels and sectors always give us special attention. This has demonstrated the precious tradition of our people, a united and peace-loving people.

Along with gift-giving and visiting activities on holidays, Tet or important political events of the province and the country, for many years, the Association of War Veterans at all levels in the province has organized connections and called on benefactors inside and outside the province to support, build gratitude houses, donate production materials (fish fry, buffaloes, cows...) to war veterans, war invalids and sick soldiers in difficult circumstances with an amount of billions of VND.

Once a family in difficult circumstances, Mr. Quang Van Khat, Pung Giat village, Muong Muon commune (Muong Cha district) happily shared: I am a veteran who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country. After leaving the army, I returned to my hometown with my comrades. Due to the lack of production materials, starting from scratch, my family's life encountered many difficulties. Realizing the special circumstances of my family, in 2017, the Provincial Veterans Association in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front Committee supported me with funding to build a house. With this help, along with help from relatives, I have a new house to live in. This will be the motivation for my family to rise up in life. I hope that in the coming time, the Party, the State, all levels and sectors will continue to have many activities to support and share the difficulties with veterans in difficult circumstances like us.

Having also participated in the resistance war against the US, due to difficult family circumstances and having to raise his grandchildren, in 2018, the family of veteran Lu Van Thuong (3/4 disabled soldier) in residential group 1, Song Da ward, Muong Lay town was supported by the provincial Veterans Association with Thien Tam Fund (Vingroup) to produce a pair of breeding cows with a total value of 30 million VND. Up to now, the family's pair of cows have given birth to 2 more calves. Veteran Lu Van Thuong was very happy and at the same time sent his thanks to the Veterans Association at all levels for their timely support and encouragement to his family during difficult times. "The gratitude and deep affection of comrades in particular and the Association at all levels in general make veterans like me feel warmer. That concern is also the motivation for us to be confident and continue to educate the revolutionary tradition to our children, grandchildren, and relatives in the family".

Not only connecting with organizations, individuals, and benefactors to give meaningful gifts to members and those in difficult circumstances, for many years, the Association of War Veterans has coordinated with the Social Policy Bank to well implement the tasks assigned to members. Thereby, helping members stabilize their lives. A typical example is veteran Lo Ngoc Anh, Muong Luan commune (Dien Bien Dong district). In 1985, after being discharged from the army and returning to his hometown, war veteran Lo Ngoc Anh participated in work in the commune. With a difficult life, in 1999, from a capital of 40 million VND borrowed from the Social Policy Bank, Mr. Anh bought nearly 10 pairs of buffaloes, cows and goats to develop the economy, opening a new direction for the work of hunger eradication and poverty reduction. With the determination and perseverance of a soldier, up to now, war veteran Lo Ngoc Anh's family owns more than 50 buffaloes and cows. On average, each year the herd of buffaloes and cows gives birth to 13 - 14 calves, bringing in an income of 100 - 200 million VND/year.

Like CCB Lo Ngoc Anh, with the spirit of a soldier after returning to his hometown, despite having injuries and consequences of war, with the attention and support of all levels, sectors, especially the CCB Association in the province, many CCB have promoted their exemplary pioneering role in all conditions and circumstances. Overcoming difficulties, many people have owned economic models that bring high economic efficiency. According to statistics, the whole province currently has over 650 farms of CCB at all levels with income from 200 - 500 million VND per farm. Also in the past 5 years, thanks to the support of the CCB Association at all levels, nearly 400 member households have escaped poverty.
