At the 2025 university education conference held in September, the Ministry of Education and Training requested training institutions to soon announce enrollment methods from 2026 in October 2025.
In previous years, the announcement of official enrollment plans was often finalized by universities after the official enrollment regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training were issued (around March).
Also at this conference, the Ministry surveyed schools about whether to keep or remove the method of considering transcripts. In fact, among the 17 admission methods in 2024, the rate of considering transcripts accounts for 42.4%; considering high school graduation exam scores is 39.1%; the remaining methods account for 18.5%.

The University hopes that the Ministry of Education and Training will soon have official information about enrollment in 2026 so that schools can announce enrollment methods, quotas, and combinations...

Dr. Tran Huu Duy, Vice Principal of Dalat University, commented: "Schools may not announce their enrollment plans in October because they have not yet determined the changes in the enrollment work next year of the Ministry of Education and Training. However, schools are certainly planning to announce their enrollment plans earlier than in 2025."
According to Dr. Duy, in early November, Dalat University will announce on its website the expected admission methods, criteria, and combinations because the school is basically preparing to complete the information.
"Basically, the school will still maintain the same methods as in 2025. For pedagogical majors, the school will stop considering transcripts and only consider high school graduation exam scores and competency assessment test scores from Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi National University. However, when the Ministry has official instructions, if there is any new information, the school will adjust," said Dr. Duy.
Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Vice Principal of Van Lang University, also said that in early November the school will announce the expected information on the website for candidates and parents to know. When the Ministry has official instructions, the school will adjust if there are new scores.
"In addition to the 2025 methods such as considering academic records, high school graduation exam scores, and competency assessment test scores, in 2026 the school plans to add some alternative methods in case the Ministry stops considering academic records, such as admission based on competency records," Dr. Tuan informed.
Currently, some universities have also announced their expected admission methods for 2026 in the press, such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University), Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, University of Finance and Marketing, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, Hanoi University of Technology...
However, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said: "The school has not posted this information on the website yet. When the Ministry of Education and Training has official information and admission instructions, the school will announce the official plan. But the school still has tentative information to advise candidates in the near future."
A university leader said that if the Ministry of Education and Training wants schools to announce early so that candidates are not passive, the Ministry of Education and Training needs to soon issue admission regulations to avoid delays like in previous years.
