Why is the bus route to Can Tho airport temporarily suspended?

In order to enhance connectivity and better serve people's bus needs, from December 31, 2020, Can Tho will put into operation the bus route from Can Tho City Central Bus Station - Can Tho International Airport.

The operation of the above bus route is supported by the people, because in addition to other types of transportation services currently operating here, passengers have more options for transportation, saving time and costs.

The bus route from Can Tho City Central Bus Station - Can Tho International Airport is temporarily suspended.

The route is: Can Tho International Airport - Vo Van Kiet Street - Mau Than Street - 30/4 Street - Hoa Binh Street - Quang Trung Bridge - National Highway 1 - Can Tho City Central Bus Station and vice versa. The distance of this route is 17km.

However, despite investing in modern vehicles, equipped with wifi, air conditioning... the quality of service is increasingly improved, but passengers are still not interested because there are many inconveniences.

"To be honest, taking a bus from the airport to Can Tho city center is much more convenient and cheaper than taking a taxi. However, the bus cannot enter the arrival terminal and only stops outside.

To get to the bus stop, I had to wade nearly 500m, and how could I carry all my luggage? That's why I took a taxi for convenience," said Ms. Duong Ngoc Ngan (living in Can Tho city).

After a long period of maintenance, in early July 2023, the route from Can Tho City Central Bus Station - Can Tho International Airport had to temporarily stop operating until now.

A representative of the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center (Can Tho City Department of Transport) said that the City People's Committee has directed the Department of Transport to organize the selection of investors and has signed a contract with Phuong Trang Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company - Futa Bus Lines to participate in the operation of 11 intra-provincial bus routes in Can Tho City with 60 new buses manufactured in 2020 - 2023, with air conditioning, free wifi and seats for the disabled.

Including bus route CT-04: Can Tho International Airport - Can Tho City Central Bus Station.

This route does not yet connect directly to the terminal area of ​​Can Tho International Airport but only operates to the end of Vo Van Kiet Street, the area in front of the airport gate.

This has caused difficulties in arranging the location of the driver to pick up and drop off passengers, parking overnight and causing inconvenience to passengers when using the bus routes to and from the airport. This has reduced the route's output and the ability to serve passengers.

"In order to restore the operation of bus route CT-04 to facilitate passengers' access to bus services in the Can Tho International Airport area, contributing to increasing the route's operating capacity, the Department of Transport is proposing that the City People's Committee send an official dispatch to the Ministry of Transport to agree and allow direct connection of the above bus routes to the Can Tho International Airport terminal area.

Thereby, it will serve as a basis for announcing the opening of routes, agreeing on pick-up and drop-off locations, and overnight parking in the airport area with Can Tho International Airport," informed a representative of the Urban Traffic Management and Operation Center.
