[Video] Perfecting a comprehensive disease prevention policy, covering both mental health and non-communicable diseases

The Ministry of Health is seeking public opinions on the Draft Law on Disease Prevention with many new contents, aiming to replace the current Law on Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases. This draft expands the scope of regulation, aiming for a comprehensive preventive health system, including non-communicable disease prevention, mental health care and community nutrition.

The new law will address longstanding policy gaps on non-communicable diseases, environmental factors, mental disorders and disease prevention fund management.

In addition, the Draft also proposes contents on epidemiological surveillance, medical isolation, quarantine at border gates, biosafety in testing, as well as rights and obligations of organizations and individuals in disease prevention.

In particular, the law will stipulate equitable, lifelong access to vaccines; organize expanded and compulsory vaccination guaranteed by the state budget; and propose compensation in case of accidents.
