In the context of the urgent need to improve people's quality of life and health care, the Vietnamese healthcare and pharmaceutical industry is facing many challenges such as population aging, increasing non-communicable diseases, disparities in access to healthcare services between regions, and the complicated situation of counterfeit drugs and counterfeit goods.

These issues require a modern, efficient, equitable and sustainable healthcare-pharmaceutical ecosystem, in which digital transformation plays a key role.

The "Innovation in Healthcare" forum held tomorrow (June 6) is expected to be a space for multi-dimensional dialogue between policy makers, management agencies, domestic and foreign experts, pharmaceutical enterprises, technology enterprises, medical examination and treatment facilities, etc. to find the most effective solutions for people's healthcare through digital transformation.

The forum brought together a series of big names in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceuticals and technology such as Dr. Philipp Rösler, former Minister of Health, Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany; Mr. Darrell Oh, Chairman of Pharma Group; Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Head of the Private Economic Development Research Department, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT ; and representatives of international organizations such as Harvard Medical School, McKinsey, Pfizer, Takeda and research centers from Japan and Singapore.

With the overarching theme of national strategy and specific initiatives, the Forum aims to address three key challenges: improving people's quality of life, improving access to healthcare, and promoting the pharmaceutical industry to develop towards innovation based on AI and data.

Pharmaceuticals will be one of the industries that apply AI the most, especially in vaccine and drug development.

Key workshop sessions

In the plenary session with the theme "Realizing the vision", speakers and guests will identify the core and key elements to realize the goals in Resolution 57-NQ/TW and the national goal of breakthroughs in people's health care, meeting the requirements of national development in the new era.

At the session "Research and development in Vietnam in the AI ​​era - Building a breakthrough research ecosystem", speakers will share practical experiences from models of enhancing drug research capacity, shortening the time to access new drugs, and drug testing in Japan and Singapore.

In particular, this workshop also provided an overview of AI applications in healthcare: Global trends and opportunities for Vietnam; R&D in the AI ​​era and global cooperation...

The afternoon workshop session with the theme "Realizing the vision of universal health care - Promoting comprehensive and sustainable health care", focused on sustainable health financing solutions, digital transformation and initiatives from localities and businesses to improve access to health services, especially for non-communicable diseases.

Not only a place for knowledge sharing, the Forum is also a strategic step to promote public-private cooperation, institutional innovation and increased investment in research, development and production in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector, making Vietnam a regional hub for innovation and high-tech pharmaceutical production.

This is a golden opportunity for Vietnamese people to have earlier and safer access to the most advanced medicines – an important step on the journey to improve the quality of life and public health.

The Healthcare Innovation Forum is also an important follow-up to the Seminar "Vietnamese Pharmaceuticals in the Digital Age - The Future from Innovation and Technology" held in Davos (Switzerland) in January 2025.

At this event, global pharmaceutical corporations such as AstraZeneca, Roche, Sanofi, Pfizer, Merck, Takeda… highly appreciated Vietnam's potential in becoming a regional R&D center, especially thanks to improvements in the legal framework and strong commitment from the Government .

According to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, pharmaceuticals will be one of the industries that apply AI the most, especially in vaccine and drug development.
