Mu Cang Chai District with Special Difficulties Completes Elimination of Dilapidated Houses

On June 5, in Mu Cang Chai district, Yen Bai province, a conference was held to announce the completion of the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025.

In the period of 2021-2024, Yen Bai province has supported the construction of more than 7,400 houses for meritorious people, poor households, near-poor households, and households affected by storms and floods (Mu Cang Chai district supported the construction of 1,576 houses), thereby significantly contributing to reducing the poverty rate in the whole province. By the end of 2024, the poverty rate in Yen Bai province will be 5.68%.

For Mu Cang Chai district, in the period of 2022-2024, the poverty rate of Mu Cang Chai district will decrease by an average of 9.46%/year. By the end of 2024, the poverty rate of Mu Cang Chai district will be 28.4%.

Implementing the Prime Minister 's direction, in 2025, Yen Bai province issued a Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with the goal of supporting the construction of 2,208 houses with a total estimated cost of more than 120 billion VND, of which Mu Cang Chai district supported the construction of 771 houses with a total cost of 41 billion 820 million VND (of which houses for meritorious people are 450 million VND, houses for poor and near-poor households are 41 billion 370 million VND).

Mu Cang Chai district has the highest number of houses needing support in the province with 771/2,208 houses (accounting for 35% of the total number of houses needing support in the whole province). With the determination of the entire political system, the participation of all levels, sectors, organizations, businesses and people, Mu Cang Chai district has completed 100% of the houses according to plan, contributing to the completion of the province's common goal (completing support for house building before June 30, 2025, 2 months earlier than the planned target of the Project).

In addition to state funding, localities have mobilized additional resources, labor, materials, land... from families, clans, and communities to support families in building houses. For households in especially difficult circumstances who are unable to build their own houses, mass organizations and communities have been mobilized to directly build houses for people... Therefore, on average, each completed house has a higher value than the state's support level, an average of 120 million VND/new house, 40 million VND/repaired house.
