Vietnam congratulates Cambodia on successful parliamentary elections

On July 25, in response to a reporter's question asking for Vietnam's viewpoint on the results of the election of the 7th National Assembly of Cambodia, Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said:

As a neighboring country of Cambodia and a member of ASEAN, Vietnam always wishes Cambodia peace , stability and prosperous development; the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia will increasingly develop for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace , stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world. In that spirit, Vietnam congratulates Cambodia on successfully organizing the election of the 7th National Assembly on July 23, 2023.

Cambodia successfully held parliamentary elections.

Previously, according to VOV, preliminary results announced by the National Election Committee of Cambodia (NEC) showed that the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) received an overwhelming majority of votes, likely to win 120 seats in the National Assembly in the next term. The remaining 5 seats belong to the royalist party FUNCINPEC. The official election results will be announced between August 9 and September 4, 2023, in the event that no re-election is held and depending on whether or not there are any complaints.

The Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation issued a press release affirming that the high voter turnout of more than 8.2 million people reflected people's confidence in the election process.
