Vietnam - Laos share experience in improving the quality of primary education

On November 11, in Dong Hoi ward (Quang Tri province), the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ) organized a field survey program and experience sharing workshop in Vietnam for the group of trainees training on self-assessment of primary schools of the Ministry of Education and Sports of Lao PDR.

The activity is part of the Project "Improving the quality and effectiveness of Vietnam - Laos cooperation in the field of education and human resource development for the period 2021 - 2030".

Experience exchange activities after the survey at Chu Van An Primary School.

The program was held at two locations, including Chu Van An Primary School and Dong Phu Primary School (Dong Hoi ward).

These are typical educational models in the area, especially Chu Van An Primary School is considered the leading unit in educational quality assessment.

Attending were Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training); Ms. Le Thi Huong - Director of Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri ; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hai - Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri.

Attending were leaders of the Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam) and the Department of Quality Assurance (Laos).

On the side of the Lao Ministry of Education and Sports, there were Mr. Panya Chanthavong - Director of the Department of Quality Assurance; Mr. Oudalone Silavaong - Deputy Director of the Department of General Education, and nearly 70 officials and teachers.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management emphasized that the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos has always been preserved and developed strongly through many generations.

Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management emphasized the cooperative relationship between the two countries' Ministries of Education.

In the field of education, the solidarity and cooperation between the two countries is increasingly expanding, deepening, substantive and effective. Cooperation between the two Ministries of Education focuses on training and fostering human resources; building educational programs; innovating accreditation and quality assurance.

Mr. Huynh Van Chuong affirmed that the work of ensuring and assessing the quality of education, in which self-assessment and quality improvement are key steps, plays an important role in improving school management capacity and teaching quality. This is both a requirement of modern education management and a driving force for schools to innovate in a sustainable direction.

At the same time, the leader of the Department of Quality Management said that today's workshop is a valuable opportunity for managers and teachers of Vietnam and Laos to exchange and learn practical experiences in the process of implementing self-assessment and planning quality improvement.

The survey program is an opportunity for both sides to share experiences in educational development.

The survey program creates an opportunity for administrators and teachers from both countries to share practical experiences in school assessment, models and creative solutions in organizing teaching and learning, and building friendly and happy schools.

Lao teachers participating in the survey discussed some contents related to educational accreditation.

The survey and workshop also helped delegates better understand the models and solutions that Vietnam is applying to develop the general education system according to new quality standards.

At Chu Van An Primary School, the Lao delegation paid special attention to the quality assessment implementation process and the implementation of assessment criteria.

Chu Van An School System donated 60 million VND to support disadvantaged students in Laos.

According to Ms. Dang Thi Tra - Chairwoman of the Education Council, Principal of Chu Van An Primary School, the school is the first unit in Quang Binh province (old) to achieve level 4 - the highest level in educational quality assessment according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The school is named after teacher Chu Van An.

Meanwhile, at Dong Phu Primary School, the delegation learned about the model of organizing educational activities in the direction of enhancing experiences, encouraging students' creativity; practicing regular assessment; and promoting the application of information technology in management and teaching.
