Boarding school gives wings to dreams
Entering the middle of the first semester of the 2025-2026 school year, students at Vinh Chau Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School, Vinh Phuoc Ward, Can Tho City are still engrossed in their books.
Students of Vinh Chau Ethnic Boarding Secondary and High School consider the school as their second home, a place to nurture them to adulthood. They study and live in a spacious school with standardized boarding facilities. Housing, kitchen, sanitation, and clean water are fully equipped and of high quality.
Each teacher and school administrator always cares for the students as if they were their own children. Mr. Lam Phung Hiep, Principal of Vinh Chau Ethnic Minority Secondary and High School, said: The school was established in 1998, initially only providing boarding training for the secondary school level. By 2012, according to time and demand, the school was upgraded and provided boarding training for the high school level.

“In the 2025-2026 school year, the school has 479 students, of which more than 90% are children of the Khmer ethnic group, all of whom are boarders. The policies for students are implemented according to Decree 66, which stipulates policies for kindergarten children, students, and trainees in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, coastal and island areas...
In addition, the school has more than 30 staff and teachers taking care of and teaching the students, so parents feel secure when their children study at the school," said Mr. Hiep.
The school principal added that all students in the school are boarding students and are picked up by their parents on the weekends. To ensure that students study 3 times a day, eat, play sports , and rest, the school has assigned teachers and administrators to take care of and supervise students from meals to sleep.
To raise awareness and responsibility of students in obeying the law, contributing to building a healthy and safe school environment, saying no to drugs and school violence. On the afternoon of November 10, the school coordinated with Vinh Phuoc Ward Police to organize a propaganda session to disseminate the law to students.
These programs have helped students gain more knowledge about the law and safety in cyberspace. From there, they develop a sense of self-protection, contributing to building a healthy and safe learning environment...
The joy of having more boarding schools
Recently, 72 inter-level boarding schools in border communes have started construction simultaneously. 72 inter-level boarding schools are part of the list of 100 inter-level boarding schools for primary and secondary schools to be invested in 2025, to be completed before August 30, 2026.
The program to build 100 inter-level boarding schools in border communes (phase 1, 2025 - 2026) under the investment policy to complete the construction of 248 schools in border communes) is a key and important task, concretizing the policy of the Politburo and the Government on developing education in disadvantaged areas, narrowing the regional gap, creating equality in access to education and contributing to strengthening social security, developing the economy - society and maintaining national security and defense in border areas. The total investment cost for building 100 schools is nearly 20,000 billion VND.

The simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony of 72 projects, with the participation of leaders of the Government, ministries, branches and localities, demonstrates the spirit of close coordination and high determination of the entire political system in caring for students in border areas, fully preparing the conditions to soon complete the investment of 100 schools before the 2026-2027 school year.
Sharing the joy when the school was just started, Mr. Pham Thanh Binh, Principal of Luong An Tra Secondary School (Vinh Gia Commune, An Giang Province) said: Vinh Gia Primary - Secondary Boarding School was formed on the basis of merging two existing schools, Luong An Tra Primary School B and Luong An Tra Secondary School.
In the 2025-2026 school year, the total number of students at two levels is 1,069 (of which, 45 are ethnic minority students, 32 are poor or near-poor students) divided into 31 classes. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Vinh Gia Primary and Secondary Boarding School has brought great hope and motivation to the staff, teachers and students.
"The boarding school model will contribute to ensuring fairness in access to knowledge for students in remote areas; improve the quality of comprehensive education, helping students study and practice in a more favorable environment. This is also an ideal place to discover and nurture talented students in disadvantaged areas; gradually creating high-quality human resources for the locality and the country," Mr. Pham Thanh Binh shared.
