In Canberra and Sydney, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang met and discussed with President of the Senate Sue Lines, Foreign Minister Penny Wong, Co-Minister of Trade Tim Ayres, Governor of New South Wales Margaret Beazley, Premier of the Australian Capital Territory Andrew Barr, Chair of the Human Rights Commission Roselind Croucher, and leaders of the Lowy Institute.

During the discussions, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed his delight at the positive, strong and comprehensive developments of the Vietnam - Australia Strategic Partnership in recent years. In particular, political trust has been strengthened, economic and trade relations have developed positively; cooperation in the fields of education and training, science and technology, defense and security has been continuously expanded and become effective.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam attach importance to and wish to continue to elevate the strategic partnership between the two countries in the coming time; making the two countries become each other's leading economic partners, while deepening cooperation in new areas where the two countries have great potential and strengths such as energy transition, digital transformation, climate change response, knowledge connection and innovation.

Australian leaders emphasized that Australia attaches importance to comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, including close and effective cooperation between the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs, the Australian Department of Trade, the Australian Human Rights Commission and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in training and fostering leaders and managers, ensuring human rights and gender equality as well as in implementing development cooperation projects between Australia and Vietnam.

The two sides agreed that on the basis of a solid relationship and the similarity of interests and development goals of the two countries, relevant agencies of the two countries need to continue to exchange and reach consensus to concretize the contents of cooperation between the two countries in the new context; to further develop bilateral relations more strongly, meeting the requirements and aspirations of the people, businesses and localities of the two countries.
