VME - SIE 2025 Dual Exhibition

The cooperation in organizing two exhibition events aims to strengthen the connection between Vietnamese and Japanese supporting industry enterprises and promote domestic manufacturing. The two events will take place from August 6-8, 2025 at the ICE Exhibition Center in Hanoi, expected to gather more than 200 enterprises from more than 10 countries, and are expected to attract more than 10,000 professional visitors.

In addition to the exhibition, the event also includes seminars, trade connection activities and capacity building training for businesses. In particular, the seminar "Investment promotion in supporting industry" aims to promote investment attraction in key areas of Vietnam's supporting industry.

At the same time, enhance cooperation capacity, promote investment attraction and effectively implement investment projects between localities, industrial parks, industrial clusters and Vietnamese enterprises with FDI enterprises, participating in the global supporting industrial production value chain.

In the context that Vietnam is strongly promoting the national digital transformation program until 2025, with a vision to 2030, the requirement to transform to smart manufacturing with technologies such as AI, IoT, big data and especially Cognitive Automation - is no longer a trend but has become an inevitable requirement for all businesses.

Therefore, according to Ms. Dhamcharee Varaporn - General Director of RX Tradex Thailand and Vietnam, the two exhibitions will focus on key solutions such as digital transformation, flexible automation, zero-emission manufacturing and digital supply chain - factors considered vital for the future of Vietnam's manufacturing industry.

In addition, the Organizing Committee will focus on introducing key manufacturing solutions such as: Machinery, automation, industrial joints, material handling technology, measuring equipment, molds and stamping dies. Notably, two prominent areas of the supporting industry are industrial joints (Fastener and Fixing) and material handling technology (ViMat) which will continue to be introduced at the event.

A series of in-depth seminars revolving around automation and smart factory building solutions; Business Matching Zone - an effective business connection space; and the Onsite Matching System will support finding suitable partners and products, maximizing the effectiveness of B2B meetings for participants.

Strengthening connection of supporting industrial enterprises

In recent times, cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in developing supporting industries has been considered a typical model. Japan is currently one of the leading investment partners in Vietnam in the field of high-tech manufacturing industry.

Mr. Haruhiko Ozasa - Chief Representative of JETRO in Hanoi said that according to the latest survey by JETRO in 2024, up to 56.1% of Japanese enterprises operating in Vietnam plan to expand their investment in the next 1-2 years, a figure far exceeding the ASEAN average. Moreover, 50.9% of these companies intend to increase their purchases in Vietnam, which is the highest rate among ASEAN countries.

With the increasing demand for localization of supply chains and effective connection between businesses of the two countries, the parties have realized this through a specific initiative. JETRO Office in Hanoi has proactively coordinated with the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) and RX Tradex Vietnam Company to establish an effective connection platform between businesses of the two countries.

Accordingly, from surveying real needs to building an in-depth exchange environment, this initiative has been realized through the organization of the 11th Japan Vietnam Supporting Industries Exhibition (SIE). Co-located with the 17th Vietnam Manufacturing Expo (VME) . This "dual exhibition" not only expands the scale but also increases the depth of cooperation between stakeholders" - said Mr. Haruhiko Ozasa.

The supporting industry has contributed to the development of a number of Vietnam's key industries, helping Vietnam increase its trade surplus from 2 billion USD in 2017 to more than 28 billion USD in 2024.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu - Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that despite significant achievements in the past few years, Vietnam's supporting industry still only meets about 10% of the demand for components for the domestic market. This figure is a big challenge, especially when Vietnam has to import billions of dollars worth of components from abroad each year to serve domestic production.

To meet development goals, according to the Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Vietnam's supporting industry needs to promote digital transformation and develop green industry. The application of new technologies, automation in production and process optimization are important factors to help businesses improve productivity and meet the quality requirements of the international market.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has been implementing many programs to support the improvement of production capacity, management capacity, and digital transformation for supporting industry enterprises, cooperating with multinational corporations and large FDI enterprises operating in Vietnam. Every year, the Ministry of Industry and Trade approves the Supporting Industry Development Program to promote and support organizations and individuals to improve their capacity in supporting industry development activities.

In particular, according to Mr. Vu Ba Phu, the cooperation between Vietnam and Japan in developing supporting industries is considered a typical model. Over the past years, through technical support activities, business connections, technology transfer, and trade promotion, Vietnamese enterprises have gradually improved their production capacity, quality management, and participated more deeply in regional and global value chains.

"The Vietnam - Japan Supporting Industry Exhibition is an effective cooperation initiative between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and JETRO, contributing practically to connecting Vietnamese suppliers with Japanese partners, creating conditions for businesses on both sides to better understand the needs, technical standards and cooperation opportunities" - Mr. Vu Ba Phu assessed.

The VME - SIE 2025 dual exhibition plays a strategic role in realizing the goal of developing a sustainable domestic supply chain, while expanding high-quality investment connections from Japan.

Through well-organized business-to-business (B2B) sessions and close support from trade promotion agencies of the two countries, the exhibition contributes to promoting high-quality investment flows from Japan. At the same time, it creates a premise for Vietnamese enterprises to improve production capacity and meet globalization requirements.
