On the afternoon of August 17, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said: "As an active and responsible member of the international community and consistently implementing a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, Vietnam is always ready to participate and make active contributions to global and regional multilateral mechanisms, organizations and forums."
At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answering reporters' questions about the relationship between Vietnam and the world's leading emerging economies (BRICS), Ms. Pham Thu Hang affirmed: "Like many countries in the world, we are interested in following the discussion process on expanding the membership of the BRICS Group."
According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the upcoming BRICS Summit in South Africa is the 15th Summit. Vietnam is one of 71 countries invited by the host country, South Africa, to attend the Summit.
This time there are two conferences: the BRICS-Africa Summit and the BRICS Dialogue Expanded. Vietnam is expected to send representatives to these conferences.
