NDO – Good news continues to come to Vietnamese football in the last months of 2024 when it is honored to receive special awards for grassroots and youth football from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
Specifically, at the AFC special award for grassroots football, the Community Football Project in Vietnam (FFAV) won the award for Best Grassroots Project.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong - Member of the Grassroots Football Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation, Chief Representative of the Norwegian Football Federation in Vietnam/ Director of the project "Community Football in Vietnam FFAV" won the award for Best Grassroots Leader.
The “Football for All in Vietnam” (FFAV) project is a cooperative initiative between the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF) and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), initiated in 2001 and directly managed by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong. The project aims to develop grassroots football in schools and social protection centers, toeducate students about character and physical fitness, and to prevent social evils.
During its operation and development, FFAV has achieved many remarkable achievements, including the establishment of many football clubs in Thua Thien Hue province and other regions, as well as organizing life skills activities integrated into football. This project was awarded the “Dream Asia Gold Award” by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) twice in 2015 and 2017 for its positive contributions to the development of community football.

For the AFC Special Award for Youth Football, PVF Youth Football Training Center won the Youth Academy of the Year award. This is a very honorable award for PVF Youth Football Training Center.
PVF Youth Football Training Center is known as one of the leading football training centers in Vietnam, possessing modern and spacious facilities with a system of training grounds and competition grounds that meet international standards.
PVF provides professional football training programs for young players from 11 to 18 years old and is coached by a team of experienced coaches.
PVF's achievements are remarkable with many impressive achievements in national youth football tournaments, including championships in the U13, U15, U17 and U19 age groups. In 2020, PVF Youth Football Training Center was awarded the "AFC Three-Star Academy" certificate by AFC, the highest level in the quality assessment scale of youth football training systems in Asia.
In addition to announcing the AFC Special Awards for grassroots and youth football, the AFC has also officially released the shortlist of the top 3 nominees for important award categories that will be presented at the AFC Annual Awards event, taking place on October 29 in Seoul, South Korea.
Accordingly, in the category of "Football Federation of the Year" - honoring member football federations with outstanding activities in 2023, the Vietnam Football Federation was selected by AFC in the Top 3 nominees for the Diamond award (second highest after Platinum), along with the Chinese Football Federation and the Thai Football Federation.
Vietnam is also nominated for the “AFC President’s Recognition Award for Grassroots Football” (understood as football teams that are active in youth training and community football) in the Bronze category, alongside two other federations: Taiwan (China) and Cambodia.
