On the morning of May 27, more than 100,000 12th graders in Ho Chi Minh City took part in the mock high school graduation exam with the subject of literature. High schools in the area created their own questions, ensuring that they followed the structure and exam matrix announced by the Ministry of Education and Training .

At Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1), the literature exam attracted attention with its approach related to social and current events. The reading comprehension section used the poem "Where I Was Born - Hoang Sa" by author Nguyen Trong Van, talking about the attachment to the sea and islands, through the image of a child born in Hoang Sa.

The questions require students to analyze poetic images and lyrical emotions that evoke national sovereignty and love of homeland from a personal perspective.

The social discussion section was led by an excerpt from the song "Continuing the story of peace " by musician Nguyen Van Chung, posing the question: "What should young people do to continue writing the story of peace?".

This is an open-ended question that encourages students to express their personal views in relation to human values and civic responsibility.

Duc Tri, a 12th grader at Bui Thi Xuan High School, said that this year's exam was inspiring because of the way the questions were posed in relation to historical and current events. The 50th anniversary of the country's reunification was quite close. He did the test quite well and was happy to be able to express his own perspective through open-ended questions.

Sharing the same view, Tran Minh Thong - a 12th grade student at Bui Thi Xuan High School - highly appreciated the way the exam encouraged students to express their personal feelings. He expected the official exam to have similar questions so that students could be more proactive in approaching and presenting the problem.

The teacher said: "Continuing to write about peace is also living kindly, compassionately, respecting differences and being responsible to the community", the exam meets the requirements of a high school graduation exam in accordance with the spirit of the Ministry of Education and Training with the new 2018 program.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place from June 25 to 28, according to the plan just announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.
