(CPV) - General Secretary To Lam expressed his belief that with its 75-year tradition of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, the Central External Relations Commission will continue to excellently fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and State, effectively contributing to the cause of national construction and defense, and constantly enhancing the country's international position and prestige.

Important contribution to the glorious revolutionary cause of the nation
On behalf of generations of leaders and cadres of the Central External Relations Commission, comrade Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission, reviewed the growth and development of the Central External Relations Commission through the periods. 75 years ago, on November 1, 1949, President Ho Chi Minh and the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee issued a resolution to establish the Central Laos - Cambodia Office, the predecessor of today's Central External Relations Commission, under the comprehensive leadership of the Party Central Committee, specializing in the Party's foreign affairs and cooperation with the revolutions of Laos and Cambodia.

Over the past 75 years, under the leadership of the Party, the Central External Relations Commission has always strived to fulfill its assigned tasks. Generations of leaders and cadres of the Central External Relations Commission of different periods, including comrades Nguyen Chi Thanh, Pham Van Dong, Le Duc Tho, Pham Hung, Ung Van Khiem, Xuan Thuy... have continued to write glorious pages of history for the Central External Relations Commission, successfully implementing foreign policy in each historical development stage of the Vietnamese revolution, making important contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the nation and the cause of national construction and development.
Notably, the Central External Relations Commission, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies, has advised the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat in building foreign policy through the Party Congress terms, advising on the building of many important resolutions and directives of the Party on foreign affairs; at the same time, effectively implementing foreign policy with major and important partners and political parties; directing and guiding the effective implementation of people-to-people foreign affairs.
The Party's foreign affairs have become one of the three important pillars of Vietnam's comprehensive and modern diplomacy, playing a core role in firmly protecting independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, maintaining a peaceful, stable and favorable environment for the cause of national construction and defense, and carrying out strategic tasks of socio-economic development. The Communist Party of Vietnam has established relations with 253 political parties in 115 countries, of which more than 100 are ruling parties or participating in ruling coalitions. The Vietnam Fatherland Front and people's organizations have developed relations with about 1,200 people's organizations and other foreign partners. The contributions and dedication of the Central External Affairs Commission have been recognized by the Party and State with noble awards such as the Ho Chi Minh Medal (2019), the Gold Star Medal (2003) and many other noble awards.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that over the past 75 years, the Party's foreign affairs, associated with the work of the Central External Relations Commission, have always played a core role in the strategic orientation of our Party's foreign policy and guidelines, strongly and effectively mobilizing national strength, international strength, support and assistance from progressive people and peace-loving people around the world, creating great resources to help the Vietnamese revolutionary boat overcome all rapids, gain one victory after another, and create many miracles.

Recalling the important achievements in the glorious revolutionary cause of our Party and people throughout the 79 years of revolutionary history and nearly 40 years of renovation, General Secretary To Lam affirmed the correct and appropriate foreign policy of our Party through historical periods, including the important role and contribution of the Party's foreign affairs work, with the Central Foreign Affairs Commission as the core. Generations of leaders and officials of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission have done a good job of coordinating and monitoring the international situation, promptly advising the Party and State in formulating foreign policy and guidelines, making an important contribution to creating a proactive strategic position and consolidating a favorable foreign situation for national construction and defense.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that since the beginning of the 13th Congress term, the Central External Relations Commission has continued to innovate in its advisory work on major orientations and policies to implement the Party's foreign policy; bringing the unified management of foreign affairs activities increasingly into order, professionalism and efficiency. On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam warmly commended and congratulated the achievements that generations of leaders and cadres of the Central External Relations Commission have persistently strived for over the past 75 years.
General Secretary To Lam emphasized that the world is in a period of epochal change, bringing many new opportunities and advantages, but also many challenges. The above situation poses many new and very high requirements for planning and organizing the implementation of the Party's foreign policy in the new period, which is also the glorious task of the Central External Relations Commission.
General Secretary To Lam suggested that in the coming time, the Central External Relations Commission should pay attention to and focus on performing well a number of strategic tasks, specifically: continuing to do well the work of researching, advising, and planning the Party's foreign policy in the new period, contributing to the successful implementation of the two 100-year strategic goals under the Party's leadership; effectively organizing and implementing the Party's foreign policy in the entire political system, maximizing the dialectical relationship between Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy and people's foreign affairs under the unified leadership of the Party, promoting the guiding and guiding role of Party foreign affairs for the highest goal, which is to ensure the highest national and ethnic interests, for the prosperity and happiness of the people. Foreign affairs need to continue to make positive contributions to the world revolutionary movement, to regional and global peace and stability, and participate in solving common world issues; Raise high the flag of peace and justice, creating inspiration to arouse the desire for prosperous development and happiness all over the world. The General Secretary emphasized that foreign affairs must be combined with national defense and security, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment to develop the country and firmly protect the fatherland from early on and from afar; combining multi-layered national strength with the strength of the times, closely linking foreign affairs with the people's hearts, linking the country with the world, the nation with the times, being proactive, creating new positions and forces, and building an international environment favorable to the Vietnamese revolution.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the Central External Relations Commission should continue to focus on building a contingent of foreign affairs cadres with strong political will, pure moral qualities, good expertise, always putting the interests of the nation, the people, and the interests of the people first and foremost. The General Secretary expressed his belief that with its 75-year tradition of serving the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, the Central External Relations Commission will continue to excellently fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party and the State, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress, towards the 14th National Party Congress, making worthy and effective contributions to the cause of building and firmly defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, constantly enhancing the country's international position and prestige.
