
Following a formal signing ceremony at the UK Foreign Office, Vietjet and Airbus officially awarded the contract for 100 A321neo aircraft in the presence of General Secretary To Lam, Vietnamese leaders and Mr. Matt Western, Special Envoy of the UK Prime Minister, at the Vietnam - UK Economic Summit.
The event took place within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's official visit to the UK - a historic milestone when the two countries officially upgraded their diplomatic relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, opening a new phase of extensive cooperation in many fields, in which aviation - technology - investment are important pillars.
Symbol of strategic cooperation and global aspirations
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Matt Western, Special Envoy of the British Prime Minister, said: "The success achieved through the Trade Agreement today reflects the values that we share: innovation, resilience and mutual respect. This success also opens the door for further cooperation between the UK and Vietnam in the years to come. Today's event will help Vietnam firmly on the path of economic growth, while bringing more jobs in North Wales, Derby and across the UK aerospace supply chain. This is a clear demonstration of the bilateral benefits."
The order for 100 new A321neo aircraft will create hundreds of thousands of jobs in the UK and Europe. Vietjet will continue to expand its international flight network, improve operational efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, and move towards the goal of green development and Net Zero for the global aviation industry.

Mr. Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, shared: "We are proud and have deep respect for Vietjet for its trust in Airbus products. Today, we signed an order for 100 A321neo aircraft, a number that demonstrates the company's commitment to development, and is also a testament to the growth of an emerging country, where we are proud to contribute and is growing, along with the aviation industry in general."
Under the agreement, Airbus will not only supply aircraft but also cooperate with Vietjet in many key areas, including pilot and engineer training programs at Vietjet's aviation academy, support for maintenance and repair services (MRO), and air traffic control technology consulting.
This expanded cooperation demonstrates the shared commitment between Vietjet and Airbus to building Vietnam into an aviation and technology hub in the Asia-Pacific region.

The order for 100 A321neo aircraft is one of the largest commercial contracts in the history of Vietnam-Europe cooperation, contributing to promoting bilateral trade, creating hundreds of thousands of high-quality jobs, and affirming Vietnam's pioneering role in the integration and sustainable development process.
This contract also extends the strategic cooperation between Vietjet and Airbus – following previous orders, totaling 376 aircraft of all types.
