VINACHEM: In the period 2026-2030, all projects will be based on modern, high-performance, environmentally friendly technology.

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of November 6, Vietnam Chemical Group (VINACHEM) held a conference "Summarizing science - technology, innovation and digital transformation activities in the 2021-2025 period, orientation for the 2026-2030 period".

The conference aims to summarize and evaluate the situation and achievements in the period of 2021-2025, and at the same time build development orientations for science and technology, innovation and digital transformation of VINACHEM in the period of 2026-2030.

Attending the event were representatives of leaders of the Ministries and agencies: Finance, Science and Technology; Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Environment; professional associations, institutes and schools.

On behalf of Vietnam Chemical Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors Phung Quang Hiep, General Director Nguyen Huu Tu, Board of Members, representatives of leaders of departments and staff... attended the program.

Thousands of initiatives, technical improvements, and applications of new technology in production

As one of the key State-owned economic groups, the pillar of Vietnam's chemical industry, VINACHEM always identifies science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as the key driving force for sustainable development. After 56 years of establishment and development, the Group has 34 member units, nearly 20,000 employees operating in 6 main fields: From mineral exploitation, fertilizer production, rubber - tires, basic chemicals, detergents... to electrochemistry, batteries - accumulators.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Board of Directors Phung Quang Hiep said that in the period of 2021-2025, VINACHEM has synchronously implemented many programs, plans and mechanisms on science and technology, innovation and digital transformation. The total investment for these activities reached more than 250 billion VND. In which, the Vietnam Institute of Industrial Chemistry plays a core role, member enterprises actively set up and used the science and technology fund to implement thousands of initiatives, technical improvements, and apply new technologies to production.

The entire Group has implemented 76 science and technology topics and projects and more than 3,700 initiatives, bringing practical results: Saving energy, reducing costs, increasing productivity, mastering many technical processes and developing many new products. Many projects have been registered for patents, won domestic and international science and technology awards, contributing to improving the competitiveness, production and business efficiency and brand reputation of VINACHEM.

"The Group has been affirming its important role in ensuring food security, energy security and providing essential materials for the economy," Mr. Phung Quang Hiep affirmed.

Towards comprehensive digital transformation

However, in addition to the achieved results, VINACHEM leaders also pointed out limitations that need to be frankly acknowledged, such as: The scale of investment in research and development is still modest; the connection between units in the Group and between enterprises and institutes and schools is not really tight; the application of digital technology, big data and artificial intelligence is only in the initial stage; high-quality human resources in science and technology are still lacking; the incentive and treatment mechanism for experts is not really attractive...

These shortcomings show that the Group needs to have a fundamental shift in thinking, organizational model and method of operating the science and technology ecosystem, innovation and digital transformation in the coming period.

Entering the 2026-2030 period, VINACHEM aims to make science and technology, innovation and digital transformation strategic pillars in the restructuring and green growth process. All investment projects, especially in the fields of fertilizers, basic chemicals, rubber - tires, batteries - accumulators, industrial gases, must be based on modern, high-performance, environmentally friendly technology.

The Group will focus on developing high value-added fine chemical and specialty chemical products, serving the electronics, energy, pharmaceutical and food industries.

Along with that, we need to promote research, comprehensive digital transformation, develop smart factory models, digital enterprises, build industry data infrastructure, and gradually apply artificial intelligence in management, production and trade.

Also at the conference, the Vietnam Chemical Group honored and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding contributions and achievements in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation of the Group in the period 2021-2025.
