VinEnergo deploys solar power projects with battery storage

(Dan Tri) - VinEnergo Energy Joint Stock Company has signed a memorandum of understanding to deploy solar power solutions integrated with energy storage systems (BESS) with VinFast, VinES factories and VG joint venture in Ha Tinh.

According to the recently signed implementation memorandums of understanding, VinEnergo will invest, install and operate rooftop solar power systems combined with battery energy storage systems (BESS) for the VinFast Ha Tinh automobile manufacturing plant, the VinES Ha Tinh battery pack and energy storage plant and the battery manufacturing plant of VG High-tech Energy Solutions Company Limited.

The total installed capacity for the factories in Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ha Tinh) is expected to be 43MWp of solar power and 45MWh of BESS capacity. The estimated annual electricity output from the system is nearly 50 million kWh, equivalent to reducing more than 33,000 tons of CO2 per year. The project will contribute to the realization of Vingroup 's net zero emissions target by 2040.

Integrating the BESS solution with the rooftop solar power system will contribute to the efficient storage and use of renewable energy sources, thereby increasing the rate of clean electricity use at factories. By applying the BESS solution researched and manufactured by VinFast with international standards of safety and quality, VinEnergo is the pioneer in deploying the first large-scale BESS solution cluster in Vietnam.

With the synchronous deployment of solar power systems and BESS at 3 factories of VinFast, VinES and VG, VinEnergo has become the first unit in Vietnam to deploy the direct power purchase model (DPPA) including solar power with BESS, in line with the mechanism to encourage the development and use of renewable energy proposed by the Government. This model is also consistent with the goal of greening production and contributing to building Vung Ang Economic Zone into a green industrial park in the future.

The project at the complex of battery and electric car factories in Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ha Tinh) is VinEnergo's first step in providing comprehensive clean energy solutions to partners and businesses nationwide. This is also a strong affirmation from VinFast, VinES and VG in pioneering the construction of a green production and transportation value chain, contributing to the country's sustainable development goals.
