Vinh Phuc drops 10 PCI ranks compared to 2023

Accordingly, out of 10 component indexes, Vinh Phuc province only had 3 indexes that increased their scores and rankings, which were the transparency index, the business support policy index, and the labor training index. The remaining 7 indexes that dropped in rankings were: Market entry, land access, time costs, informal costs, fair competition, dynamism, and legal institutions.

According to preliminary assessment, the main reason for the PCI ranking drop in 2024 is that the quality of consulting work and proposed solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles has not met the expectations of businesses.

In addition, the time to resolve administrative procedures is still slow, the dynamism and pioneering spirit of authorities at all levels and departments, branches and sectors in resolving bottlenecks has not improved much, dialogue conferences between heads of authorities at all levels and businesses are not really effective, and have not attracted the attention of businesses...

The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and Provincial Green Index (PGI) reports are annual publications conducted by VCCI with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and private partners to promote the building of a business environment that is favorable for enterprises and environmentally friendly.

At the same time, it is a vivid picture of the business environment of provinces and cities in particular, and Vietnam in general, from the diverse perspectives of domestic and foreign investors, especially the reforms that are highly appreciated by businesses and the difficulties that businesses are facing.

2024 marks the 20-year journey of the PCI index being born and published in Vietnam and this is also the final report with all 63 provinces and cities before the merger of localities is carried out according to Resolution 74/NQ-CP of the Government on promulgating the Plan to implement the arrangement of administrative units and build a 2-level local government organization model.

Up to now, Vinh Phuc province has been in the top 10 for 9 years; in the top 10-20 for 7 years; in the top 20-50 for 4 years in the PCI announcement table.
