Before facing host Indonesia in the final, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team maintained their form with 5 consecutive victories against Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Iran, Taiwan, and India. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team also made a special impression by not losing any games, a rare achievement in continental tournaments.

In the final, the host team Indonesia, although not rated as highly as the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, had the home field advantage with the support of a large number of fans. Not to mention, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team also said that the team being arranged to be more than 20 km away from the competition venue, while the home team was close to the field, was also a disadvantage for Vietnam as some of our players got carsick and tired due to the long travel time. Not to mention Indonesia with the formidable star Megawati, had caused many difficulties for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team in the semi-finals of the 32nd SEA Games last May, and only lost with a close score of 2-3.

In this rematch, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet fielded a lineup that was considered optimal, with players such as main attacker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Tran Tu Linh, setter Doan Thi Lam Oanh, libero Nguyen Thi Kim Lien, and hitters Dinh Thi Tra Giang, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, and Nguyen Thi Trinh. The Vietnamese female hitters had a very favorable start, winning 25/18 in the first set. The home team Indonesia unexpectedly exploded in the second half of the second set to win a "suffocating" 27/25, tying the score at 1-1.

The Indonesian players played "sublimely" in the third set, continuously leading the Vietnamese women's volleyball team before winning 25/21 to take a 2-1 lead. With no way back, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and her teammates joined hands to overcome difficulties, winning 25/20 in the fourth set, equalizing the score 2-2, bringing the final match into the fifth set.

In the match that decided the championship title, Vietnam and Indonesia competed fiercely in points, competing with each other in every move. The stars of the two teams, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Megawati, showed their mettle by scoring important points. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team created a 2-point gap (9/7) but was equalized by their opponents 9/9. The 2-point gap was created by coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students before winning 15/13, thereby winning the championship.

The Asian Challenge Cup title helps the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win a ticket to the World Challenge Cup in France next July. This is a very remarkable achievement for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team after winning the Asian Women's Club Volleyball Cup.
