Isaac Dulgarian (necklocked) suspected of betting arrangement. |
The incident erupted when the pre-match odds fluctuated abnormally, forcing many bookmakers to refund players - an extremely rare thing in the sports world. Before the match, Dulgarian was rated as the favorite at -240 (bet $240 to win $100 ), but just a few hours later, the odds plummeted to -160.
Additionally, the “fight to end in the first half” prop dropped from +850 to +475 (for the underdog, bet $850 to win $100 ). This was a sign of big money pouring into Del Valle’s early win. And as expected, Dulgarian got a rear-naked choke and lost in the first round.
Immediately after the match, two major bookmakers in the US refunded the losers, citing suspicious fluctuations. The move immediately sparked suspicions of match-fixing. On live broadcast, former boxer Michael Chiesa bluntly criticized: "It's a shame for a boxer who is about to enter the top 5 to lose like that."
A few hours later, the UFC announced that it had terminated Dulgarian's contract, despite having recently renewed it. US media quickly discovered that Dulgarian had trained with James Krause - a coach who was investigated by the FBI for a betting scandal in 2022. According to LowKick MMA , the FBI is keeping an eye on this fight, although it has not yet opened an official investigation.
Previously, Dulgarian had also made a controversial statement: "Don't bet on me unless I get a share." This statement has now become an "oil spill" that has caused him to be heavily suspected.
Del Valle, meanwhile, has not been named in any of the allegations. However, if evidence of a fix is found, this could be the biggest betting scandal in UFC history.
