VPUB - Thoroughly grasp the Conclusion and implement the Politburo's Directive on drug prevention, control and combat

Dienbien.gov.vn - On the morning of April 17, the Central Party Secretariat held a Conference to disseminate Conclusion No. 132 dated March 18, 2025 of the Politburo on continuing to implement Directive No. 36 dated August 16, 2019 of the Politburo on strengthening and improving the effectiveness of drug prevention, control and combat. Chairing the Conference at the Central bridge were comrades: Tran Cam Tu - Standing member of the Secretariat; Le Thanh Long, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee for AIDS, Drug and Prostitution Prevention and Control. The Conference was organized in a direct and online format to provincial, district and commune-level bridges in 63 provinces and cities across the country with over 376,700 delegates. Attending the conference at the Dien Bien province bridge were comrades: Mua A Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lo Van Phuong - Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Pham Duc Toan - Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

After 5 years of implementing Directive 36-CT/TW of the Politburo, positive, outstanding and important results have been achieved. The fight against drug-related crimes has been carried out resolutely and effectively. The police force has promoted its leading and core role, closely coordinating with the Army and Customs to detect, combat and seize large quantities of drugs, contributing to limiting the "supply" of drugs. Over 122,000 cases and nearly 187,000 drug-related criminals have been detected, combated and arrested; nearly 3,100 kg of heroin and many synthetic drug pills, marijuana, opium and many other exhibits have been seized; 76,344 new cases and 95,088 defendants have been prosecuted; over 3,560 billion VND have been fined; Many drug crime rings and organizations operating in multiple lines, provinces, and across countries have been dismantled... Investigation, prosecution, and trial of drug crimes have been conducted promptly, strictly, and in accordance with the law, achieving a high rate (over 97% of cases and 96.6% of defendants). Propaganda and education on drug prevention and control have been promoted, diversified in content and form; many effective drug prevention and control models have been built, deployed, and replicated at the grassroots level. Each year, ministries, branches, and localities organize over 200 direct propaganda campaigns, through grassroots cultural institutions, mass media, and application of 4.0 technology... Attention has been paid to the management of drug addicts, illegal drug users, and post-rehabilitation management right at the grassroots level. After 5 years of implementing the Directive, drug rehabilitation facilities nationwide have treated and rehabilitated over 214,700 people...

Concluding the Conference, Comrade Tran Cam Tu - Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat acknowledged the results of implementing Directive No. 36 over the past 5 years, which have significantly contributed to protecting security and order, effectively serving the cause of building and protecting the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland. Regarding the tasks in the coming time, the Standing member of the Secretariat emphasized: Party committees and authorities from the central to local levels must thoroughly educate cadres and party members to have a correct, complete and responsible understanding of the position, role and importance of drug prevention and control work in ensuring security and order, protecting the health, life, peaceful life and happiness of all people... This is the task of the entire political system and the whole society, absolutely not "left to the police". It is necessary to continue to strengthen the leadership of the Party, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of State management in drug prevention, control and control. Strengthen propaganda, raise awareness, build a movement for the whole people to participate in preventing, combating and controlling drugs; Each citizen must be a propaganda officer, each family must be a fortress for preventing and combating drugs; Local Party committees and authorities must give strong direction, not allowing "hot spots" of drugs to exist in the area, affecting the peaceful life of the people.../.
