The Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board coordinated with relevant agencies to inspect the Givral bakery (Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, Ward 21, Binh Thanh District); took samples for testing to find the cause.
Regarding the information about a child dying of suspected poisoning from eating cream puffs, on the afternoon of October 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board (ATTP) said that it had just coordinated with the authorities to inspect the Givral bakery (Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Street, Ward 21, Binh Thanh District); taking samples for testing to find the cause.
Accordingly, at the time of inspection, the Inspection Team did not detect any violations at the facility. Inspecting the cream puff (Choux round) production workshop at Lot II-1B Le Trong Tan, Tan Binh Industrial Park, Tay Thanh Ward, Tan Phu District, the Inspection Team did not detect any violations at the facility. The Inspection Team took 6 samples for testing (1 cake sample and 5 cake ingredient samples).
In addition, continue to coordinate with Thu Duc City Police to verify the incident related to Givral Cake Joint Stock Company, coordinate with Thu Duc City People's Committee to conduct an investigation, quickly fix the incident, limit the impact on consumers' health; urgently coordinate with hospitals to provide the best treatment for the victims. An Phu Ward People's Committee coordinates with the Health Department and related sectors to visit and encourage the victim's family.
Previously, as reported by SGGP Newspaper, on the afternoon of September 29, Palm Heights Apartment (Thu Duc City) organized a Mid-Autumn Festival for children of residents living in the apartment building and children of some employees working in the apartment building. The organizers gave gifts and cakes to the children.
Among these gifts, the apartment bought 230 cream puffs from Givral bakery in Binh Thanh district to give to the children. On September 30, a 6-year-old child showed symptoms of vomiting and died on the way to the emergency room; on October 1, 5 children who ate the cakes had symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting, and fever. By the morning of October 2, many children showed similar symptoms.
